I made some of these with my friends. It took about an hour to make. It was so worth it!
We ended up using 1/2 pounds of beef per roll.
Added garlic powder, onion powder, cayenne pepper, and smoked chipotle tabasco sauce... OOh I hope I don't have a heart attack.

Hot-Dog-Rollup

Edited to add: Needs LOTS of ketchup. Have plenty handy.

Great googely-moogely!!

...I'm going to have to try that now....
Link Posted: 8/8/2005 10:58:59 PM EDT
I'd try it
Link Posted: 8/8/2005 10:59:04 PM EDT
When we made them we used polish hotdogs instead of regular ones. Another thing we did is use 1 slice of cheese. Two slices of cheese kind of makes a mess and prevents it from sticking together very well.

Enjoy!

You just made one? I eat them all the time, they are not as dangerous as the website says. I usaully have about 3-5 a week. They are really good. Now, in a completly unrelated event, I have gained 221 pounds in the last month, coincidently the same month I began to eat them. Ah no, left arm tingling.....,, pain in chest........ gah oh god......!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'M COMING, BERTHA! *Flatlines*

Just for the record I have never really eaten one, but I have probably eaten all the ingredients required to make it in a 1 hour time span.

Hmm I may have to try that... Do I cook the bacon before or after wrapping the butter with it?

Can you get the bacon truely "crispy" while wrapped around the dog?

You may want to nuke the bacon in the micro a little bit first... I don't like my bacon that crunchy anyway though..

Hmm I work third shift... Yawn.. I think its past my bedtime. Was just about to bump for the day crew... This is just too good not to share.

If you are a normal heathy person, do not eat more than 1 of these a year, they are more or less like crack because they are so good, so you need to be careful. If you die...it's not my fault, you've been warned.

Is this the official snack of the ARFCOM Chairborne Ranger.....

<BR>If so, grill me one up!

That would be so awesome !

The street vendors in Tiajuana used to make this disgusting looking bacon wrapped hot dog thing. Never ventured that far into 'real' Mexican cuisine while I was there and usually just stuck to beer. But damn if that doesn't look almost exactly like the 'thing' they were selling.....anyone else remember seeing those?

Ok..ok.....ok I just had a brainstorm, so its hard to get the thing wrapped and back on the grill..ok...ok..ook.. So how bout this grill the weenies with the bacon oh scratch that, split the weenies down the middle and stick slices of cheese in the middle of weenie, then wrap with bacon. OKOKOK now cook until done and then make a weenie meetloaf. Take your egg and bread and crumble with meat in a bowl then add onion and greenpeppers okkoooookand garlic, cant forget the garlic, mix well and season with Chacheres cajun seasoning throw in chopped Jalepinoes. ookkookkkk Now lay a little in casserol dish and insert weinies then cover with meat and layer grated cheese and cover with rest of meat and pour picante ontop and throw in the oven bake until done and slice cross weanie grain to serve.

i saw something similar done by a "famous" chef on Leno a few weeks ago

i cant imagine eating a whole one, but id certainly try a bite

FWIW, id like to try the fried twinkie too

ETA: the guy on Leno was Chandler Goff linkie

If you don't know about chef Chandler, listen up: This guy is crazed in his own right, taking his burger obsession to new highs. At Mulligan's in Decatur, Georgia, Mr. Goff serves up his controversial "Hamdog" as well as the "Luther Burger." The Hamdog, of mythical proportions but oh so very real, starts with a hot dog wrapped in a beef patty. This massive meatwad is then deep-fried. Not enough for you? It's then topped with chili, cheese, onion, a fried egg, and two fistfuls of fries. All of this is nestled in a giant hoagie bun. The "Luther," supposedly named after R&B singer Luther Vandross, is much more simple: two Krispy Kremes sandwiching a good ol' bacon cheeseburger.
