OP: Does that me you want me to want you? If so, we both may be disappointed. Sorry.

I saw them in concert at Winona State
The LOUDEST thing I had ever been to before, my ears rang for days after. I was right behind the guy running the mixer board and he just pushed everything to the top. |

I've seen them twice in concert and got to meet them when I was working at a Biker ralley a while back. Great band.

Southern Girls is my favorite song among all other favorites from them. Have loved that band since I was a kid, I'm 45.

Quoted: If you ever saw them live in the early days, especially when they were doing fairs (and pre-shows were easy to attend) they always played AC/DC for a soundcheck. In later years, they put it in the set, but I loved showing up to the Arizona State fair and waiting just to hear this. http://youtu.be/uZJRYu1KROY View Quote |

I wasn't much of a Cars fan in those days (this would have been in 1997 or 1998...somewhere around there), but I was absolutely blown away by what he was doing. This dude could fucking play. Holy dogshit, he was good. It was humbling, because the Cars were never known for guitar heroics. Somebody forgot to tell Elliot that he wasn't supposed to be able to do what he was doing. He was BETTER than Fogerty, at his own damn songs. Imagine that shit. Okay, it's not Cheap Trick, and it's a bit off-topic, but it does demonstrate that some of the "new wave" bands were a far sight more technical than laymen give them credit for. And really, it should have come as no surprise, in hindsight. It was you (at a BBQ/Shoot years ago) who uttered one of the most insightful things I've ever heard, about pop music. To be good at it, is actually much harder than being "good" at hard rock, or metal. It's deceptively simple on the surface. It's ridiculously easy to play, and even harder to write. |

They used to play the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo every year. I can't remember how many times I've seen them in concert there. They have always been one of my favorite bands.

I'm tagging this. "Tonight It's You" is one of the greatest tunes ever. I love that changeup.
Live at Budokan is a really fun live album, too. |

I got so much wet pussy from cheap trick. Chicks I wanted so bad, older than me, hotter than any other. Even today, there is no comparison.
Music today sucks for getting laid. |

Quoted: Many moons ago, I was at the Stanislaus County (California) Fair with some friends. While we were there, we noticed that "Creedence Clearwater Revisited" (consisting of original members Stu Cook and Doug "Cosmo" Clifford) were playing that night. So we each chipped in $10 (I think that's what it was), and grabbed a surprisingly easy place in the front row. That's crazy, I've met Easton. He was a guest presenter at a guitar conference I went to at Fur Peace Ranch years ago (Tom Petty was there too). He sold me a Japanese strat, which I still have, btw. He's incredibly talented, but like you say deceptively so. I've made great sport of trying to get my better guitar playing friends to figure out Cars solos...they sound so easy, then when you see how they're done you're like "Fuck, that's weird, and hard, and fuck!". The other thing about Elliot Easton is that he's a well known angry drunk and has been known to throw shit at audiences...like guitar cabinets. He was nice when I met him tho. |

Saw them open for Robert Plant (Now and Zen tour) in 1988 at the Hampton Coliseum. Not a bad show at all!!

View Quote The same can't be said, for the fan next to me, for that show. This was one of the fattest, and GAYEST dudes you've ever seen. I mean FLAMING, and it got worse, the more he drank. He was literally (and I'm using that word very deliberately) leg humping me, at various points. I actually punched him a few times in the face, during the show. For the entire show, he would scream "PLAY HAVE YOU EVER SEEN THE RAIN!!!" in the gayest lisp, you've ever heard. And he would do this, while literally mounting my leg and humping it. So when he did, I'd punch his head really good. And then he'd stop for like...half a song. And then it would start again ("HAVE YOU EVER SEEN THE RAIN?!! <leghump>), and then I'd land another one on his noggin'. His face was seriously swollen (complete with two black eyes), three quarters of the way into the show. So eventually, the band said "And now, a song for a really enthusiastic fan up front!". And they played Have You Ever Seen The Rain. But by this point, he was passed the fuck out - probably a combination of a shit ton of beer, and repeated blows to the head by an annoyed concert goer. Oh, hell no. HELL NAW! You ain't sleeping through this, asshole. Not after all you've put me through. So I shook him, kind of woke him up, and said "I'll suck your dick, if you sing along to this as loud as you can. Make sure the band hears you". And he did. I punched him again after the song was over, and we enjoyed the rest of the show. |
