I'm a regular down at the local VFW (they invite the general public) and got "drafted" by the local Marine Corps League on my second visit. Oh well. Cheapest beer in town, and best clientele.

XxSLASHERxX --- NO,-- Stateside, Nam, Stateside, & OUT.--- Did spend a few years in Germany working for a govt. contractor, main office was in Frankfurt.-----Remember this ONE? I dated a girl that lived in augsfhart on inevay strassa!!.---- Do Europe every other month or so as part of my job.-- I still like Germany very much, getting ready to fill up on Gluvine and hit the Weihnachten Markt.---ALLONS11

I have a VFW life membership. Cheap drinks and nice people, but I'm usually the youngest person there.
My dad (WW II vet and VFW member) gave the the membership as a birthday gift after I got back from Desert Storm and qualified for membership. I'm not sure how useful it is. Most posts are hurting for business and have been forced to open the doors to the general public. |

I'm the youngest in my Post too. Most of the guys there are 20-30 years older than I am (I'm only 23).
Can't beat the poker nights! Where else can you get beer for 75 cents and learn new four letter words every time you show up! Semper Fi. |

But the question was about the American Legion not the VFW. Anybody can get int othe American Legion that was in the service, there are certain qualifications for VFWs.
