My 14 year old Shorthaired pointer/lab mix.

She didn't want to eat yesterday, was lethargic today. Took her to the emergency vet hospital and ran an ultrasound and x-ray. Found several massive tumors that we didn't know about. The old girl was suffering so we let her go.

This hurts so fucking bad, my family is devastated and I can't stop crying.

My 14 year old German Shepherd immediately started looking for her and is upset now that her sister is gone.

RIP Mama

Sorry for your loss.  Our four legged family members never seem to have enough time with us.

Damn, and it was on such short notice too.

I'm dreading the day I have to do the same. I can only hope that I give my dog the best life she could have had. I hope yours enjoyed every minute of your company.

I had to put my 15 year old Scottie right before Christmas. It sucks but the pain and the guilt eventually subside. Sorry my friend.

I hear you man.  I lost my only dog about four months ago, and the best I can say about it is that it hurts a little bit less every day.  I'm sorry for your loss.

It's hard to find a better teacher of unconditional love than a dog .

Sorry man, had a similar situation with my 14 year old Rottie 4 1/2 years ago..... best darn dog I ever had.
I cried daily for sometime, wife actually got sick for a couple of months.
It gets better with time...... I think about him EVERY freak'in day and if I let myself go to far, the hurt swells up.
It does/will get better, give it time...... until then, TRY to keep busy.
Sorry for your loss.

It's better than the guilt of fighting for a dog when you shouldn't have.

You did the right thing.

I am very sorry, I have had to do the same thing more than once.
God Forgive Me, but I cried more when I had to put my Black GSD down, than when a close family member died. Well, didnt.
Sure feel bad for your other Doggie too.
Aint called Mans Best Friend for nuthin.....

Sorry for your loss as well.  I have a 12 year old Golden Retriever and these threads break my heart as I know I probably only have a couple of precious years left with her.  Best and smartest dog I have ever had.  She still greets me at the door each day I come home and she is sad when I leave.  You can't beat a dog's unconditional love.

Its a damned shame dogs don't live as long as people.  Now excuse me while I go love my dog and get out of this dusty environment I am in!

P.S. I don't believe in reincarnation, however, if such a thing existed, I could not Imagine a Life better than being a Dog with a good Master.
So Sorry.
Yep, really dusty tonight.

Thanks guys. I'm still crying like a little girl. Everytime I see her little bed next to the bedroom window or something I lose it.

Hardest part for me was watching the other dog look for the one we lost.
