Phone rang, caller ID listed my next-door neighbor's number.

It was fucking "Jeff" telling me about how I stayed at some resort, 75% off, cockgarble blahblahblah...

Hung up and went to handset menu to double check, and the time stamp matches.

The PITA is, I can't really block my neighbor's number on the landline, as my cell has no service at home.

spoofing isn't that hard. This site ever has somewhat interactive, prerecorded senarios, even allows you to keep a copy of the audio. (May or may not be a ton of fun with coworkers

Are you sure it was your neighbor? Spammers can spoof phone numbers. I've had my own number come up on the caller ID before.

tellespammers haven really gotten crazy. They're using other peoples phone numbers. I've gotten quite a few texts from people saying "who's this? I just missed you call".

I got a vacations reward spam call once from my area code. Looked up the number and it was a local nursing homes number.

But what's more annoying is I keep getting calls to extend the warranty on my 2013 Chevy Equinox.
The same Equinox we bought in Feb 2013, and totaled in May 2016.

I have been getting about 4-5 spam calls every day for the last week. Usually random places, but several have been the same area code and prefix as my own number. I have been blocking them all. If I don't, "they" call back.

I was at a customer's house. His cell rang with a telemarketer pimping business loans, he hangs up.

Not thirty seconds later my phone rings, same f'in number, same business loan BS.

I live ~50 miles from the customer. Not sure how they pulled that one off.

I have an account with what used to be called Western Reserve Farm Co-op. Caller ID showed the local number a few years ago. Same thing, solicitor for some credit card company.

I got two phone calls this week on my cell phone that I ignored and let go to voicemail. No message was left so I Googled the numbers. One number returned to a doctor's office in Louisville Kentucky while the other one returned to a woman in Louisville Kentucky. Google search revealed that these numbers are being used by some scam company wanting to sell extended warranties for vehicles.

Obviously the scumbags who do this are spoofing telephone numbers.

People who do this should be shot and buried in a shallow ditch.

I've had it happen a few times, even had someone a few streets over call as I was walking in the door returning a missed call. I told her it was a spoofed number from a scammer and no one was home but the dog
