I have AT&T unlimited data (grandfathered).

My wife only has 2gb data because shits expensive, yo.

AT&T was advertising unlimited everything for Direct TV customers.

So now I have Direct TV, and then att comes out and says they're giving unlimited data to everyone regardless of Direct TV....

I have Suddenlink Cable Internet, so I can watch STARS, HBO, etc, Netflix, Amazon video, and Microsoft video without satellite.

I also found out my TV is Direct TV ready, so spending an extra $100 for a wireless mini Genie was useless.....

I had Directv before I cut the cord, and it really did not go out during storms or anything like I heard people talk about. If it did go out so was everything else really.

I've had Dish since 1998.

If your signal goes out short of a hurricane then the dish isn't "peaked" and you need to call someone or get a meter on Amazon and do it yourself. Or there's something in the way like a tree.

OP

Is your "unlimited" plan only 22 gigs then it gets throttled?

I've had unlimited data forever and now suddenly they are increasing my rates every 6 months and trying to get me to switch to a throttled plan.  Fuck AT&T.  Almost every time I have gotten them out of my life they buy another company I am dealing with.

AT&T isn't 'giving' unlimited anything. If you have Direct TV Now, you can stream that programming unlimited to your AT&T phone...but everything else is capped.

Yeah, dad had it for over 10 years and it'd have to be monsoon-level rain to get it to cut out.

That same rain would usually take out my cable, sometimes for as much as three days. His service came back as soon as the rain let up some.

AT&T is the debil.

Done business with them on and off for 40yrs. Not a matter of if you get screwed but when.

I felt sorry for DirecTV when I heard about their being acquired by them.

Yeah, unlimited data and up to 4 lines is about $180.00 a month. Not all of their plans have unlimited data.

I just can't fathom paying $180.00 a month for cell service. That was a mortgage payment not that many years ago.

If you're talking about the grandfathered plans, I have one as well...and you're throttled too after 22GB the same as the new plan.

I would note that it's not guaranteed that you'll get throttled at 22GB...only if the cell tower your pinging is jammed up and you're over 22GB everyone else gets priority.

I had both Dish and DirecTV

Most of my current TV watching is now from an OTA Antenna for local stations.

I really hate paying for channels I Never watch.

The tech didn't want to drop a new coax, so he put the main unit in the bedroom, and the wireless mini in the living room with the nice TV.

DTV sucks at descriptions. I thought it meant it had wireless internet at first.
But still, DTV didn't want to drop lines and fish for cables.

The coax in the living room is connected for suddenlink cable (mah internets)

I've had DTV for 15 years. I lose signal once or twice a year for 10-15 minutes-and when I do, I know there is a big storm coming.
If you lose signal a lot, either your dish is not aimed properly or you have obstructions.

What that run you a month? I have Suddenlink too. Tired of paying $200/month for crappy channel selection. The internet is nice - uber fast and almost never off.

Hell my Direct TV stayed on through most of 3 hurricanes It was awesome. My hubby set it up so that I could change inputs and it used a antennae he had strung up in the attic. I always have something. People with Cable TV had nothing for weeks after at least one of the storms.

It has to be raining seriously bad for mine to go out.

Not truly unlimited. Throttle after 22 GB of use. If you stream DirecTV through the app on the whatever mobile device your using its data free.

I agree. I experienced 3 hurricanes with with Directv and the internet went out first 2 of those times. I only remember a few other times it went out from rain and those were mostly tropical storms.
