Am I the only one? Seems like it is a womans holiday. They all seem to be so excited. I could care less. Was talking to my dad and he is the same way. Said he hasnt liked this time off the year in 20 years.

I love it.
But no, you aren't the only one... and you aren't the only one here. |
|
HAPPY BIRTHDAY JESUS!
Other than that, I hate the commercialization of the whole season. |

I love it!
I seldom get anything cool, but I love the joy that other people get from what I give. More people need to focus on giving, and less on receiving. ETA: Too many people are waiting on someone to make them happy. Sometimes, the best way to find happiness is by trying to give others some happiness. |

The Christmas Holiday, like anything else, is what YOU make of it.
I understand the depression that it can bring, and it's honestly a time of joy and sadness for me. I miss my Dad, my sister, and others who can't be with me during this time. But I do have my wife and son, our dogs and we make the general time of year about family, about closeness, and caring. We give gifts, and as another said above, I get infinitely more joy from giving than I do from receiving gifts, so I focus on that...on what I can do to bring others joy, and in turn, it brings me joy. I try not to let it get me down, and I'm sorry...truly...that you're hating this time of year. There are a lot of things to hate right now...but try to turn it around, not let hate consume you, and try to make the season about something that brings you joy. |

i can't fucking stand spending one of the few 3 day weekends i get going to two different fucking inlaws houses
i think next year we are just going to fly somewhere tropical and i'll put it in the wife's pooper for 3 days to celebrate |
|
In my opinion, Xmas is a fake holiday. Ask random people why we celebrate Xmas, see what they say, 9 out of 10 will say "for the presents"

I don't care for it because most of my family are a bunch of assholes and the gathering is held at my grandmothers house who loves to suck the enjoyment out of everything. Thank God I will be going south to visit my GF's family this Christmas.

There is alot of truth. Some marketing estimates put women as high as 85% of all purchases made. Ill bet that number gets even higher around the holidays. Plus yes, most of the decorating. I think about the only thing that some men look forward to decorating is the outside of the house. The overcommercialization of the holidays have femenized the season. It also can make even the most docile of people turn into start raving loons with all the pressure. If you cut all that out its probably =/=. |

Ive enjoyed it since I was a kid. My family is all very religious and we celebrate the birth of Jesus first. We've not always had gifts, but we've always celebrated.
I love getting people gifts for Christmas though. It feels nice |

I love it. It is by far my favorite holiday. My wife and I both enjoy most every aspect of it, but especially the fact we do the dinner at our home and by nights end we usually have about 30 people over eating drinking and just generally enjoying each other. Your welcome to come and enjoy it with us

It's my favorite holiday, and I don't really get into the gift thing too much except for the kids.

Woman's holiday, my ass. When Mike sees all the shiny presents for him under that tree, you can bet your gun collection he gets excited....
|
|
Christmas is 99% consumption and 1% celebration of the new and everlasting covenent. I like Easter much much more. |

Women's holiday?
I hate it. I hate the materialism, the awkwardness of not participating in gift giving when others want to give you stuff. I hate carols, crowded stores, the interruption of business and not being closer to family. I hate that when I do get to see family, theres a "program" with carols and gift exchange. I miss my Froggy family and the low pressure, no presents for adults food fest French Christmases. |

All that aside I don't mind christmass I just hate the bloody fucking music. Every god fucking damn uncreative POS "artist" with auto tune has to make a new version of jingle bells |

YES!! CHRISTmas is the BEST time of the year.
I love the holidays and I love my family and the time we are together! |
|
I like Christmas but I hate how commercialism has changed the concept from Jesus' birth to Santa and presents.
|
|
i have a feeling that some folks on this site would be wearing tube socks with holes in them if not for
women in their life |
|
Another point, why the fuck do you have to go out of your way for one fucking day to be close to your family? why dec 25th? what you can't possibly do it any other time of the year?
It's just like valentines day. A fucking sham of "closeness and togetherness" now go buy shit for each other. |
|
My little girls love it and that brings me lots of joy. So I love it for them too!
|
|
I used to hate it. Now I really enjoy seeing Christmas through the eyes of my young kids. It brings back a lot of the memories and magic of when I was a child.
|
|
I LOVE CHRISTMAS... it is the day in which we celebrate one Washington's greatest victories.

Get the candy cane out of your ass and lighten up, it's for the children.

Quoted: I like Christmas but I hate how commercialism has changed the concept from Jesus' birth to Santa and presents. This is a common refrain from Christians, but I really don't understand it. I presume that you personally refuse to participate in wanton commercialism, preferring instead to focus on the birth of your Lord and Savior. Am I right? Other folks fighting the crowds at the mall might not see it this way, but does it really matter? |

Festivus for the rest of us. I'll make a donation to the Human Fund in your names. |

Way too much "Stuff" that people want and not enough money to do all of it. Then you get obligated to get stuff for coworkers that you dont even like because you are doing an office party and there is the chance that they got you something. I cant stomach alot of Christmas carols either.

Sad because they miss thre true maning of the season. Sure presents are fun and all but its not the reason. To each their own... |

Christmas is just a made up holiday..... I am also one of those that doesn't particularly care for the "season".
I am a Christian and Christmas, Dec. 25th, is NOT Christ's birthday....... the Bible purposefully DOES NOT give the date of Christ's birth...... why Dec. 25th was chosen I don't know....... Biblical scholars seem to agree that from the descriptions in the Bible that Christ was born around October not December. Even the "Christmas tree" is an adaptation of a Pagan practice..... Pagan's would bring evergreen branches in their homes to ward of evil elves or some other type of goblin..... look it up. So, we were never told to celebrate Christ's birth, we were never given the date of Christ's birth, etc. It IS just a HUGE commercial "spend your money on mostly useless shit" man made holiday with no Biblical foundation..... I think that is why MANY people have had enough. Maybe someone will come up with another bogus holiday so people feel that they MUST spend money....... in effect, another "STIMULUS" package....... after all, we are a country of CONSUMERS and if we don't consume, the country goes to hell. |
|
One year my family found a family going through hard times though my mom's church. Instead of buying stuff for each other, we bought stuff for the family. I really enjoyed it and wanted to continue doing it, but I was the only one. Sometimes I just dread the holidays... the commercial part.
