So I work at a sporting goods company that can be found in the southern states where I am an associate in the field and stream department. Since the election, guns and ammo have been flying off the shelf. Though its hunting season, people are buying all the ammo for home defense including handgun ammo.
As I was walking my post, I noticed a man in his 30's looking at the 9mm ammo as if he wasn't sure what he wanted. I went up and asked him if I could help him.
He stated h was taking a CHL course and didn't know what ammo he should get. He also said he was borrowing his friends 9mm pistol for the course and his friend didn't want him shooting steel cased ammo because it may scratch the chamber. The man picked up a box of brass cases Monarch 9mm and asked me if it was any good as it was the cheapest we had.
I told him that the Monarch brand ammo is Russian made and is pretty dirty, so I showed him some Speer Lawman 9mm that was $1 more than the Monarch brand. I told him that the Lawman ammo is better and cleaner than the cheap Russian stuff. Immediately after I said that, annother customer, an old slinky fud behind me interrupted and started to tell the customer I was talking to that the Monarch ammo is the best stuff on the market besides Tula. He went on and said he only shoots the 55gr stuff in his Hesse AR15 and that he once used "high quality" ammo, which popped a primer in his lower receiver.
He kept going on and on and wouldn't let me explain why the Lawman ammo for the 9mm is better than the Russian stuff for only a $1 more per box.
I gave up and walked off. I don't even think they noticed gone. Anyway, the guy getting the handgun ammo walked away with a couple boxes of Monarch 9mm and the fud walked off with all the Monarch 223 55gr FMJ off the shelf for deer hunting, which I overheard him saying it was his first time...
Whatever I guess.
I'll just get the 1000 rounds for Federal M855 and the boxes of Lawman 9mm FMJ with my 20% dicount for myself.
