That just pisses me right the hell off. I know what that means, and I let her know it.
Fill me in, what does it mean? |
Did you give her a full power shot? |
+1 Never heard that one before. |

"Kwailoh" is an obscure Maori word for "person who falls for patently false economic theories." It's quite the insult as I understand.
If you were going to express the same sentiment to a person of African extraction it would start with an N. |
A quick google shows it basically means "white caucasian"...but I think it probably means closer to the chinese "gwai" than anything, or maybe the hawaiian "haole"..
Insulting to an accountant maybe. |
I chuckled |
It's slang/derogatory term for a white guy. Can't remember the exact dialect it is, but think "gaijin" in Japanese.
is that you, Cliff? |
Kwailoh: (n) Kwailoh used to be a politically incorect & rude term to refur to the mentally retarded, but now refur to any shmo who is a victem of circumstances, constantly embarassing themselves in public with clumsiness, have terrible fashion sence, & ofthen tend to have annoying voices. Kwailoh never become urbtards or desiwores.
Better get Chuck on that. He has the experience dealing with these people... |
With a roundhouse kick to the head, over a telephone or grocery store's PA |
As did I. |
Thats what you get for telling that peak oil bs to everyone you meet.
Wait till you run across an arfcommer and tell it. |
That's what you get for living in Cali. |
Kwai Lo - Chinese for "ghost" (meaning "foreigners") and usually a referrence to white people.
Hardly the insult. Basically the Chinese equalvalent of Gai Jin. |
Gwailo basically means long nosed barbarian. It's an insult to white people from Chinese.
Not always derogatory. But thank you for actually knowing this shit. |
I wouldn't consider it an insult, there's no word for "European-American" in Chinese I'm sure. I wouldn't even say it's the same as gringo. Funny how people complain about political correctness then fly off the handle over something like this.
Was this before, or after you were telling her about peak oil? Just kidding - much SF love to you bro! |
Go cry a river, build a bridge and get the fuck over it. Kwailoh. |
You can kiss the fattest part of my pasty white ass, pajamaboy. |
Got a laugh out of a Financial Analyst. ...then again, I've been known to name files for the company op-plans "Fuzzy math and voodoo economics". |
I'm white and would not be insulted or care less what someone calls me. Its only words people.
Suppose to be freedom in this country to say what you like, at least there was when I was younger. Americans have gotten to have some pretty thin skin in the last 40 years or so. |
Cantonese, more specifically. But it's actually "white ghost" or "white devil" -- ghosts in Chinese culture are malicious, ravening beings.
Well, in Mandarin, it's "wei guo ren" - foreign (hu)man (in my experience, it implies honkiness), or "mei guo ren" - American (hu)man (usually implies white; they call blacks a lot of things here, generally negative). ETA: oh yeah, the Taiwanese like to call foreigners "adogah" (ah-toh-gah, the 'd' is sorta 't'-like, the way they say it), which basically means "monkey". Usually it's the annoying little kids who do it to be "funny", although sometimes the betel-nut-chewing foreigner-hating truck driver types will do it too. |
And you ran to ARFCOM to bitch and moan about it?
Quit being such a fucking Kwailoh! |
i thought the chinese word for white ghost or devil was "fan qui" or something like that.
the chinese ARE the mexicans! didn't you hear? they crossed over via the Bering Strait land bridge millions of years ago! |
Wait wait wait....you mean you didn't draw down on her?! And your coming here thinking we'll give you sympathy?! Don't come back here until you have successfully found this asian woman, slapped her to the floor, and explained to her the situation with the business end of your .45! Foolish white ghost....
My SiL is Taiwanese. One thing I noticed when I visited there, American blacks are loved even more there than they are here. |
What is with all the thin skin? Who CARES what some stranger calls you? Why did some idiot ruin your day?
Every black person I've talked to that's been to China say people were much nicer and they felt more at home than in the US. |
What'd you do? Did you tell her "I know what that means!" You showed her. |
I would have been flattered; I always thought it meant "I am hot for you, Round-eye!" |
I would let Gogo Yubari call me anything she wanted, as long as I get to " bad touch" her in her bathing suit area.
You should have said right back at ya you commie gook bitch, and learn to DRIVE!
What was the ethnicity and sex of the person who said this to you?
CJ |
Gaijin is merely foreigner. Gai (foreign) Jin (person) As in a foreign country would be Gaikoku and a dentist is Hanjin. There is nothing derogatory about gaijin. Kwailoh is more like being called a cracker...... |
Hmm
my momma never taught me any bad words in Mandarin except rotten turtle eggs... |
Dumbass remarks like this is why threads get locked. |
