I have a friend from the Corps who was a scout sniper, and he has already set aside a super sniper for me. He will be helping me set it all up.

I looked around a little and it seemed like I got a good deal for my area. I bought it at a new awesome gun store in Independence TX. They have 4K guns in stock. It's a fun place to spend money.

My price includes the taxes as well. I think it was $998.00 before taxes. The closet rpce I could find near me was $1,150+ taxes.

What makes that rifle worth about $500 more than other Rem 700s?

What recommendations for mounting the scope?

I've got one in 308 and it is a great shooter. At 600 yards prone a 12 x 12 plate is easy.

Needless to say it can shoot better than I can...

Real men shoot from the hip!

Congrats, OP!  Let us know how it shoots.  I've had my eye on a 700 for a couple years now, and might get around to pulling the trigger (ha!) this summer.

It's got a Bell and Carlson stock, fluted Bbl, a fully adjustable triger, and a few other refinements. If they add up to $400 more than the 700 AAC modle I was planning on I don't know.

Looks nice, but going to be hard to shoot that this weekend. Well, at least if you want to hit anything.

Yep. Best gun store in my area that I know of, for the kind of stuff I desire to see in person and to take home to snuggle with.

Are you in San Antonio??? I need to check that out.
Link Posted: 4/19/2011 12:52:41 PM EDT
I've got the same rifle waiting for me when I get back home. I don't know squat about precision shooting, but look forward to learning.

I am not sure where everyone else is seeing prices at, but the price you paid is a fair amount less than what I've seen elsewhere.  I think I got a decent deal too though.

Here it is with the Trijicon 5-20x50 mil dot green dot scope I put on it. LaRue 20 moa scope base and rings. Hopefully I will be able to go shoot it next week sometime.

If anyone is shopping for the same type of scope LA Police Gear has them the cheepest I have found at $871.25. I got mine from Red-Dot-Scopes for $919.95 with free shipping.

I got to shoot it the other day, and boy was it fun!

My 800 yard target. The 3rd shot was center mass, but about 12" above the target.
