This a story about an inmate being executed with an animal drug but the sub story is what caught my eye. I may go to hell for laughing at this.

http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/40697512/ns/us_news-crime_and_courts/

Duty was convicted of the December 2001 slaying of 22-year-old Curtis
Wise. At the time, Duty was serving three life sentences for rape,
robbery and shooting with intent to kill, all dating to 1978.

According to court records, Duty convinced Wise that he could get
some cigarettes if Wise pretended to be his hostage so that Duty could
be transferred into administrative segregation. Wise agreed to let Duty
bind his hands behind his back. Duty then strangled him with a sheet,
court records state.

Investigators said Duty penned a letter to Wise's mother, Mary Wise,
writing, "Well by the time you get this letter you will already know
that your son is dead. I know now because I just killed him an hour ago.
Gee you'd think I'd be feeling some remorse but I'm not."

He also appears to be a fan of Sonic food:
For his final meal, Duty requested a loaded double cheeseburger with mayonnaise; a foot-long Coney with cheese, mustard and extra onions; a cherry limeade and a large banana shake, Massie said.

You shouldn't order a last meal from fast food.

Because a cop is going to pick it up.

Think about that for a second...

So the guy's cell mate, a rapist and a murder, says "Here, let me tie you up and you'll get some cigarettes." and the guy goes for it?

Pentobarbital is not an "animal drug".

It is a sedative that was developed in 1928 for the treatment of seizures in humans. It is also used in veterinary medicine for the same purpose. It is also commonly used (in combination with other drugs) in veterinary euthanasia solutions.

More correctly, it's a human drug also used in animals (as opposed to a drug developed for animals and only used in animals).

More importantly, it probably costs a couple hundred per application.  Here, let me save you the trouble:

Correct.  I just checked the pharmacology on pentobarbital vs thiopental.   The primary difference is in the half live, pentobarbital being 15-50 hours, thiopental  3-11.5 hours.  By half live we mean the length of time it takes for the body to metabolize and elimiate half of the administered drug.

With a lethal does this is all a moot point, he will be dead long before a half life state is reached.
