Am I alone?
Never understood the attraction. To each his own, and all that, but I just don't get it. I did enjoy Sgt. Fury and His Howling Commandos, the Weird War Tales, Haunted Tank/Jeb Stuart stuff, but was certainly never a collector or aficionado. As a kid, "Comic-book" types always struck me as loners who creeped me out a little. Today, the only person I know, with a comic book collection, is a nerdy cuckservative Trump hating, married to a Hillary lover, Taurus Judge owning dork. He loves these Superhero movies. I can't shake the association. You SuperHero loving, DC/Marvel Comic reading Freaks are... well... Freaks!!! ETA: I enjoy Heath Ledger's Joker. |

Agreed.
Comic book people have always been weird as hell. Action figures too. They're dolls. Plastic army men don't count The only people I know who love comic books are old autistic virgins. |

I've never seen the appeal of comic books but I love all the movies.
My husband doesn't read them anymore but he still has his comic book collection somewhere. He's far from an autistic virgin. I do get the stereotype. But there are exceptions. Particularly now that it's mainstream. |

No, you are not alone... just strongly in the minority, albeit more so elsewhere than here.
I was a huge comic book fan as a kid, collector as an adolescent and young adult, and love the recent and current movie adaptations, but I certainly don't fit any of the generalizations in your OP. Don't like 'em, don't read/watch 'em. Simple as that. |
|
|
I wouldn't say I hate them, but they definitely don't appeal to me. I like some of the Batman movies ok. And Deadpool was entertaining.
Otherwise, they are usually unwatchable for me. I saw that Suicide Squad was on HBO, so I turned it on, to see Margot Robbie if nothing else. I made it about 3 minutes before turning it off. |

Haven't read them since I was a kid, but yeah, I like the movies and apparently so do a lot of other folks. Their just fun and have good fight scenes. Doesn't mean you have to like them. I know a history professor who liked to analyze the trends in comics (and cowboy movies) and relate them to the current political and social issues of the day. Unfortunately, that trend continues. But, that's another thread.
Hey, I like Star Wars, too (and don't live in my parent's basement). |

Sorry OP, no real man can think this is anything but pure awesome.

Never was into super hero comics as a kid. Didn't care for the cartoons much either. Maybe because we were to poor to buy comics and our TV sucked so we opted to play outside instead. Comic-Con is just plain weird.
That said, the Marvel comics movies kick ass and Stan Lee is a creative genius. Can't wait for the new installment of Guardians of the Galaxy. The DC comics movies blow chunks. |

That's how I feel about shows like Seinfeld, Frasier, Big Bang Theory, or pretty much any stand-up comedian, or pretty much any modern comedy film. So I simply don't watch them. As for the fact that millions of people do like those things, I consider the average human IQ, chalk it up to that, and move on with life.

Ya know the stereotype of a comic book fanatic kinda resembles the stereotype of the average GD'er. Just saying.

Ive never truly understood the fascination either.
I have seen a few superhero movies and they were entertaining I suppose. I guess the first one I ever saw was Watchmen in college. I had never heard of it before, but I did enjoy it much more than other superhero movies |

Seems a little weird that you are creeped out by someone just reading a comic book.
|
|
I only liked Batman since he has no superpowers.
Loved the dark knight and tried to gain some interest in other heroes. However the film industry ruined the experience after that. |

"Hey I don't like comic books or movies except this one and that one and those... but I'm not some cuck weirdo like you guys are"

Alpha personalities have no need for fantasy super heros.
Beta cucks...not so much. |
|
I resemble that remark. DC Fan here. Batman has always been my favorite, but to each his own.
|
|
My kids got me back in to them. As a kid maybe I had 50 comic books. Now I just got the last issues I needed to finish the first 2 wolverine series. I probably have around 300 or so. I can't wait for the next comic book convention in a couple weeks. Last time I got 99 books for $26.

Awwww the wittle snowflake is looking for affirmation of his beliefs.
No. Go be boring somewhere else. |
|
I like Captain America movies, Punisher movies and Deadpool.
That's about it. |
|
You're not alone. Never was into that stuff as a kid, not into now....

Time for a Haunted Tank movie. M-3 Stuart taking out Tiger I and Panthers. There is an actual historical event where a M-5 Stuart disabled a Tiger I. The 37mm shot peened the area between the turret and the hull, preventing the turret from rotating. The Tiger crew bailed.
Of course, GeeDee will crucify the movie (much like the comic book fans did). |
|
You're not alone in this.
I've never been a fan of any fictional stuff...superheros, science fiction, etc. |

49 years old. I love the super hero movies. I read comic books. I collect 12" military and movie figures. I play video games. Married for the second time. Member of the NRA and I voted for Trump. My name is Scott, I don't give a fuck.
