At least in that case there was a man-made structure. You can at least predict what will come next. Honnold climbing a rock face is much less predictable.

2000 feet up a sheer cliff hanging onto a knub the size of an Iphone isn't heights.

I've climbed grain elevators. I've roofed tall barns.

I can handle that.

If I were teleported halfway up that mountain with climbing shoes, a bag full of chalk, and an intimate knowledge of the route, I would die.

Others in this very thread have said it's their fear of heights that makes them nervous.

I personally think it's badass, and videos like that don't bug me at all.

(Also, grain elevators and tall barns aren't very tall. )

That one is crazy, no doubt, but I would climb that tower a hundred times before I tried to climb that rock face.

Six feet can be tall enough, if you are unlucky.

Shit...I barely made it up one of those little climbing walls at the fair...NO F&#@&^%N WAY! Lucky for me I would probably fall at about 2 feet up... most likely survive that one.
Link Posted: 4/28/2014 4:27:05 PM EDT
Made me queezy. You could put me 3 ft below the "safe" point and I would find the bottom of that cliff quicker than Rosey O'Donnell could knock the bottom out of a half gallon of Haagen Dazs.

Such a shame to make it all that way only to be executed by the Chinese when they arrived back at ground level. At least they died doing what the love.

Yup. I'm not perfect and I know sooner or later I'd make that big mistake. I'm not scared of heights, tied off I'd be fine.. It is the possibility of falling that scares me.

Sense of mortality gained by life experience perhaps. I used to rock climb and go spelunking. Now I don't care for heights, and struggle with small spaces.

I'm not, think about how many thousands of generations died by the blade or gunpowder compared to heights. Death by falling has
always been with mankind since the VERY beginning

Implicit memory, our bodies remember before our minds even exist.
