Sold one of my remaining 2 ARs today.

All I have now (and I will be keeping this one) is an A1 triangle hand guards style one.

More interested in historical arms now, like M1 carbines, Garands, etc.

Not enough room in the safe for a bunch of ARs anymore.

When you get bored with those.....you'll buy more AR's again.

I am going to have to get my butt in gear and get a CMP Garand.

Saw a run-of-the-mill Garand at the LGS today, $1199.

Since I cant scuba to the boat wreck...  I am just shooting to get my second first AR this week.  Being ARless sucks.

Exactly. Why not keep both genres in your collection?

I'm with you, Bro.
One AR, Colt match rifle.
Match M1A
Match M1 Garand
'03 Springfield
M1 Carbine. See were I am going on this one?
And a lot of pistols and other rifles and shotguns of specific purpose.
I had many AR's. I just like the 20" barrel for it's accuracy. I like to shoot at extended ranges when I can.
If I want a more specific barrel, I'll just buy another upper.

I started the year with 6 ARs.

One day I opened the safe and said "What the hell am I doing?"

If you haven't noticed, this political climate is not the best one to be getting rid of EBRs in. At least wait till after November

I don't have any.

Had 4 last month but they had to go after I lost my job.

A few years back, I looked into the safe and asked the sale thing, except I ditched everything rifle that wasnt 556 or 762x39

I am down to one AR.  Gotta pay bills after a big pay cut.

I only got one right now myself. Used to have two but I hardly ever shot the other one so I sold it to my brother.

Is there a better fighting weapon than a AR15 style rifle?

Who knows, but I don't fancy myself a Delta Force Navy Seal Ninja operator, and feel I can defend myself just as well with my SKS or M1 carbine or Mini-14.

Ah if you have to be a Delta Force to own an AR15 I guess I better sell mine and get a SKS  also.
Link Posted: 10/6/2012 2:59:09 PM EDT
One of these...

Fits perfectly in one of these...

A stack of lowers doesn't cost much or take up alot of space.  I look at them as 'insurance"

I've got one for every member of my immediate family plus a spare (and probably enough parts to put together another if I really looked).  The others are just toys and collectibles to me.

Who said that?

I am just trying to make the point that I am not a highly trained fighting machine, so my survival chances in a fire fight don't go up if I pick up the AR over the SKS or Mini-14.

Why? For some future hypothetical "assault weapons" ban? What if they ban the sale of uppers in this hypothetical ban?

I like the ergonomics of my AR, 30 round mag, its easy to use....I have an M1 carbine...its not my first choice of weapon if my life depended on it.

I'm down to two as well.  Additionally, I've decided to go "back to basics" selling my LWRC piston upper and now I currently have a 20 inch Colt Sporter Match A2 and a 16 inch LMT with a M4 style barrel with a standard front sight.
I've even ditched the railed handguards, VFGs, and any other Tacticool add ons except a EOTech on a LaRue riser, Troy rear BUIS, MagPul MOE handguard and CTR stock.  The Colt is bone stock except for a Turner all weather 1907 sling.
I have expaned my .30 caliber battle rifle collection and now have 3 Finnish Mosins, 2 Enfields, and a K-31.  Any of the bolt guns can be hunters with irons out to 150 or so...

The lonely AR.

The one I sold today was exactly like it (minus the numbers on the stock)

I had 12 and am now down to 3.  Sucks starting a new career because the last one drove you insane and this one is driving me crazier.  Time to start drinking alone again.

you should have started getting your butt in gear a long time ago. Nice CMP Garands are $800+ now.

Life wouldn't be worth living with only one AR.

Link Posted: 10/6/2012 3:30:52 PM EDT
At least you didn't sell for need to pay bills.

I remember having to sell a NIB HK 94A3 because of fing bills.
Link Posted: 10/6/2012 3:30:57 PM EDT
I am kind of the same way. I intend to own more AR15's, but until I have kids I don't see me stockpiling enough to equip a modestly sized SWAT team.

Link Posted: 10/6/2012 3:32:02 PM EDT
Over the last few years I have sold off everything but one AK, two optics, and some pistols. Sold the AR, other AK's, SKS, pistols, shotgun, and lots of optics. Kinda of in a buying mood now though.  Thinking of getting another AR or doing a AK105 clone.
Link Posted: 10/6/2012 3:32:34 PM EDT
I wouldn't be caught without a single, good, trusty, solid battle rifle of some sort right now. Keep that last one.

Having a second is even better.
