Ch. 1 Foreshadowing of Things to ComeSo I was in Petsmart to pick up some food for my dog. While I was carrying the bag to the register, I heard a dog growling and getting aggressive. Looked around the corner to see a large mastiff, maybe 100lbs trying to get at a young husky looking dog.
Ch. 2 The Situations EscalatesSo I got to the register and was waiting in line, when I saw about a 12yo boy walking the previously aggressive dog around by himself. I kept a close eye of course, because I'm an ever aware Arfcommer.
First, a mother and daughter walked in and the dog dragged the boy over to the about 8yo girl. I started moving on it, but the dog sniffed and backed away. I turned and set my dog food on the register, and glanced back just in time to see this guy being walked in by his middle aged, female owner.
The large mastiff immediately dragged the boy over, sniffed for a second then started growling and trying to bite the little guy. The lady couldn't do anything because she quickly got tangled in the leash, and the boy was just along for the ride.
Ch. 3 JonnyVain Enters the Scene
So I run over as fast as I can - they're only about 5 feet away. I grab the mastiff's leash and yank him back, tossing him sideways and knocking the boy on the ground.
The little guy did get bit. There were some blood droplets on the ground and blood in it's hair, and he was definitely terrified, shaking like a leaf, but it looked like he was going to be ok.
Little guy's family ran after the other people and got their info, so I'm sure the vet bills will be paid for by the mastiff's family.
ETA: I did get a chance to scold the mastiff's adult owner on letting a child walk around a large aggressive dog.
