If you could only have four guns...

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

if you could only have three guns, what would you have, specifically?

For me, its a pretty simple set.

1. AR-15 with .22 lr upper so I can shoot both .22 and .223

2. Remington 870 in 12g. Reliability, easy to find parts, easy to find shells for, will take down dove to goose.

3. Stainless 4 inch barrelled .357 mag revolver. Good for medium sized game, good for defense, reliable, easy to find shells for, easy to reload, generally accurate. less punishing that a .44mag

4. Saiga .308 if all else fails I can go to the woods and hunt deer and hog for food.

You better specify that a complete AR is one gun, uppers count as another gun!

But since you didn't specify.

Ar with
16 inch 5.56 upper, 16 inch 6.8 spc, 11.5 inch 9mm, a .22 LR upper,  and a 20 inch 5.56 for fun
Rem 870

The 4th I'm undecided on.

Here's mine:

My WWII SA Garand.   I cannot EVER give this wonderful weapon up, except to pass down to my son, in hopes that he understands the sacrifices made by men greater than I.

A good M1A. Not 2005 "Springfield Aromry" crap, I said a good one. GI parts throughout.

A 1911. Preferably of the semi-custom variety. Yo-Bo 1* would make me happy.

An AR. The RRA Entry Tactical with good optics would make me comfortable, either the ACOG of my choice or an Aimpoint.

well...let's see...I know we all feel like a pistol is kinda mandatory, but I think if I could only have 4 guns - I would forego the handgun.

1. PSG1 - long range
2. Ar15 - mid range & possibility for CQB
3. MP10 - close quarters only
4. ...and an MP5K (non-PDW) instead of the pistol

.44 magnum lever rifle
.44 magnum revolver
.44 magnum derringer

There, 3 guns.  A 4th would be an AR, but if we're talking specifically about survival, I'll stick with my first 3.  Carry a suitable mix of .44 magnum and .44 special, varying weights for varying purposes, and I'm set.  (Yes, .44 spec. in the derringer, but it'll shoot magnums if that's all I got.  Won't notice thte sting if it's all I got left against a bear.)

I could go with various makes or models, but I would need the following 4 calibers:

.22

.30-06

12 gauge

.45 ACP.

And there ain't nothing I want to do that I cannot with those four.  The rest is strictly fun, not business.
