Most people think of hyenas as scavengers, but there's a reason lions and hyenas hate one another: they're both awesome predators, competing for the same foods.

Did I hear her right? Did she say "I wanna not enjoy this as much as I am. What's wrong with me?"
|

Holy shit that looks like a nightmare. I'm actually pretty disturbed by that, normally it takes a lot to bother me. |
|

That's how Hyenas eat their prey all the time. The specifically start with the genitals/rear/soft areas. The only reason that wildebeest was alive the entire time was because there was only one hyena. Normally there'd be half a dozen tearing it to pieces so it'd die a lot quicker.

There's a NatGeo special:Eternal War.
About the endless warfare between lions and hyenas. It's like looking across an endless gulf of time. Haunting. |

Next time some anti hunter is going on about how a creature should be allowed to die a natural death instead of by some bullet or arrow, they need to watch what Mother Nature calls a natural death.

I was thinking the same thing. That Mexican chick getting de-nogginated with a box cutter still fuckin' haunts me at times. Not in a scary way, but more hoping that I'm never made to feel something like that. |

Not gonna click it.
I can deal with people blowing each other up, but I have a soft spot for animals.

And that children is what PETA so vehemently supports as the circle of life. Give me a bullet to the vitals any day.

That sucks.
BOOM! Take out the wildebeest. Would fight myself NOT to take out the hyena also.

Ouch. There's a really pretty one of a lion disemboweling a giraffe on YouTube. Also, the gazelles that run into the river full of crocodiles is an interesting insight into the animal kingdom.

That's horrible. Video wouldn't load for me, though. Guess I lucked out.

I surprised the wildebeest was still conscious, tenacious they are.

Every morning in Africa, a gazelle wakes up. It knows it must outrun the fastest lion or it will be killed. Every morning in Africa, a lion wakes up. It knows it must run faster than the slowest gazelle, or it will starve. It doesn’t matter whether you’re a lion or gazelle - when the sun comes up, you’d better be running.

View Quote Truth be told, an animal that is taken by a hunter is going to die a quicker, more humane death than any other way they could possibly ago. Well, except maybe getting plowed into by an 18 wheeler. |

All the PETA idiots say that keeping animals as pets or in zoos is inhumane.
I got news for them, living out in nature is about as harsh and cruel as the world can be. Animals in zoos have it easy. |

There's a LOT of competition for food, and other predators/scavengers may be along at any second and take that meal away, so they go for the most nutrient- and energy-dense parts first, just in case. Brutal, to be sure. |
