I don't really understand why all of the presidential TFRs. Why not just have AF1 fly around and the president sometimes be on it. Hell, if I were president, I might occasionally want to fly in on a Gulfstream or something less obvious. Hell, put me in one of the escort fighters.

It's a bus tour.  These massive TFRs are for a bus tour.

Are you fucking kidding!? Did we have these massive TFRs during past presidencies like this?

Shit, if I were president, I'd say fuck AF1, I'm flying myself there in an F/A18!

It would end up being a hell of a lot cheaper too

ETA: An A10 would work too. No need for the Secret Service then

That reminds me.  When I was flying A-10s at England AFB, LA in the mid 80s Air Force 2 came in.  We were in an exercise and the Secret Service Advon made all of the pilots turn in our mighty 38 cal Smith and Wesson Combat Masterpieces  for security reasons.  When Air Force 2 landed I was sitting number 1, leading a 4 ship.  Oh yeah, and we were doing a live ordnance drop so each of us had 1000 rds 30MM HEI and 6 live MK82s and we had just finished arming so all the pins were pulled.  But we didn't have our 38s ;-)  Truly a WTFO.

No, this nonsense started post 9/11 and seems to have gotten much worse with King Obama.

I read something from a retired USSS agent that said Obama is the most hated President the USSS has ever had to protect. Hated, meaning people are out to get him. They are constantly chasing credible threats against him. Love or hate the guy, that is a terrible way to live.

Rolling TFRs are a nightmare!  I'm a firm believer that if you pop one you should get a pass.

My answer is just going to be to stay on the ground tonight.  Shame, it's perfect weather.

I don't know whether to laugh or hang my head in shame at the sheer stupidity. "OK, since a VIP is coming in we need your revolvers. What? You're sitting in a ground attack aircraft with 1krds of HEAT AND 6 bombs? Carry on without your pistol. Never mind that if you wanted to make some big ass fireworks you could."

Go to KC Downtown, grab the crew car, do the Golden Ox for dinner.

I haven't been there before.  My long cross-country for instrument was the same plan just to Jack Stack.

I think Topeka Billiard still has a restaurant on field, as does Pawnee City (OK/KS border just inside OK near I-35).
