The next Republican in office ought to do an instant executive order for something similar to this.

This is the way that ALL Hellenic armed forces members, put under Oath faith in the homeland and declare they are willing to give their own blood and die for the Nation as soon as they join the Force or graduate their Academy. This is done by putting the three fingers (thumb, index finger and middle finger) together as one, pointing the sky. The three fingers move, represent faith to God, Jesus Christ and Holy Spirit as One.

The Oath given by ALL the Armed Forces members:

"In the name of the Holy and Consubstantial and Indivisible Trinity;
I Swear to be faithful to my Country,
obedience to the constitution, the Laws and the Legislation of the Nation.
Submission to my superiors,
to perform their commands promptly and without contradiction,
to defend with faith and devotion to the last drop of my blood our Flags, never to abandon them nor separate from them,
and to obey faithfully the military laws, and to perform as a faithful and honourable Soldier"

But with our salute of course.  That one looks gay.

They sure as hell are doing it to us.

Gives me fits.  Why force someone to recognize a deity that they might not believe in?

YOur idea is stupid.

If  you want to give liberals fits, how about going about it in a productive manner, like tax reform and cutting government by half?

Make starving artists make money on the private sector.

If you want to make a liberal mad, tell them they are very greedy.

It's true too.

Your fallacy is associating a lack of belief in a religion for being a liberal. I'm sorry I don't believe in supernatural beings, but I do believe in economic freedom, small gov't, the right to bear arms, liberty etc.

Was that to Constitution and the Holy Trinity?

Fail.

How to give heartattacks to all the libs in this country- and some people here

Sad to see so many in solidarity with liberals.

I'm happy to say I'm 100% OPPOSITE of EVERYTHING they stand for.

That would make a great sig line.  Do you mind if I steal it?

Fail.

It was in response to your picture and the oath.  Read your history books.  After looking at the picture and reading the oath that was the first thing that I thought of.  Has nothing to do with our Constitution or the Holy Trinity.

Not at all. I would be honored.

Has everything to do with it.

Nazi salute to the leader and only him.

The Greek one or my semi in jest.  Both to the Constitution and God.

Quite different.

"In the name of the Holy and Consubstantial and Indivisible Trinity;
Keep your religion to yourself.

I Swear to be faithful to my Country,
obedience to the constitution, the Laws and the Legislation of the Nation.
Those are contradictory.

Submission to my superiors,
to perform their commands promptly and without contradiction,
Fuck you.

to defend with faith and devotion to the last drop of my blood our Flags, never to abandon them nor separate from them,
See above. The flag is a symbol, I fight for the Constitution and freedom.

and to obey faithfully the military laws, and to perform as a faithful and honourable Soldier"

Are you some sort of armchair tyrant, trying to test what oath you need for your army or something?

Historically speaking, it has not been unusual for warriors to swear an "oath of moment" or other symbolic pledge of themselves to a pending battle.  Sounds like a variation on this.  Archaic, yes, but a relevant component to a battle from a warrior's perspective.

I'm pretty sure you'd melt down about half of the Christians too, since there's no consensus on the Trinity.

Just what we need....more religion in the Republican Party.

You want to scare the shit out of the liberals....make an announcement that you are going to take all religious issues out of the Republican Party.

Or we could just start enforcing the part about "all enemies, foreign and domestic."

I'm good with our current Oath, we just need to start taking it seriously, and understand it's a pledge to defend the Constitution, not the government or the leaders.
