The FedEx guy delivered some company related equipment to my [small] condo on a wooden pallet.  He got the hell outta Dodge before I had a chance to get the boxes unwrapped and give the pallet back to him.

Now I have a wooden pallet in my 1-car garage.

I thought about chucking it in the street in the middle of the night.  It's really too big to fit in the condo community's trash compacter.

Take it to the range and shoot it to pieces.

Put it out front with a sign that says $5 on it.

Most likely someone will steal it, there is a 20% chance someone might actually pay you for it.

I remember I was at the beach one time and someone used a couple of those as wood to make a bonfire.  The nails were everywhere in the sand.

Pie!

Actually, use a crowbar - remove the nails and use it as kindling.

Toss a cardboard box on it and sell it as a homeless shelter w/hardwood floors.

Well, they aren't exactly put together with twine and duct tape.

Here it wouldn't make it that long, Mexicans come take them, and sell them back to shipping companies.

I remember seeing depots full of pallets in Oklahoma and Texas on i-35 saying they buy and sell pallets.  I guess truckers that get stuck with them can pick up some extra change for the nudie booths.

Use it to hold up targets until it falls apart.

They make good fish attractors. Pull the top slats. Nail them to the sides and sink with cinder blocks in 12-15 ft of water. Great for making Crappie honey holes.

I generally take them to the sportmans club and hang targets on them after standing them upright!

Have you ever actually tried this?

The hardwood pallets I've got use twist nails.  You'd be better off beating it to pieces with a sledge hammer than trying to get the nails out.

I just cut them up with chainsaw and burn them up in fireplace and/or chuck-em on top of the pile when I'm burning the usual 10-20 cubic yd's of trim every year.

Peoples in KS don't do this...?

First off... it's YOUR pallet, not UPS's.  It was supplied by your shipper to ship your good.

A 4' square pallet costs about $20 these days.

Simply carry it out and put in the dumpster.

Brun em, but watch out for the nails that are left behind.

Some of those pallets are made of hardwood, something that can be used in a smoker. Ask a friend that has a smoker if he can use it.

Maybe a brand new pallet, but one which you have no idea what kind of crud has leaked on to it?  I don't think so.  Even breathing a clean wood fire ain't particularly good for you, being down wind of a chemical fire is down right nasty.
