According to AIM Surplus, the CZ-82 pistol, produced from 1982 to 1992, is now C&R eligible.

How is that possible? It's not 50 years old or older, it isn't a curio or relic, it doesn't have an obscure caliber, etc. Are they simply incorrect, or did the CZ-82 somehow get put on the list of C&R eligible guns?

It's not a glitch. They put it in the description of the pistol as now being C&R eligible and it's also listed on their firearms page as 01/03 FFL eligible.

The best possible explanation I've heard, from here on this site, is that it is because Czechoslovakia does not exist as a country anymore.

Used in a country that is no more, hence the curio.
Was petioned and granted.

Must be a collector's item.  If someone petitions BATFE to put it on the list (Like AIM Surplus, perhaps), and they don't see it as a problem, they do it.

To become a curio and relic all that is needed is to convince the right person at BATFE to add it to the list.

That it is on the list is a GOOD thing.

Maybe I should petition for a Czech ak-47 to be added to the list.

I never said it was a bad thing. It's quite good for the CZ-82 to become C&R eligible. I was just wondering if it really was C&R eligible and how it was possible for it to become so.
