Nevermind........found this:

Tony Knowles supports the right to bear arms as guaranteed by the Second Amendment to the U.S. Constitution and outlined in the Alaska Constitution. Tony also believes it is the responsibility of the states, not the federal government, to determine which weapons citizens may own and where they may be purchased. Tony does not support federal legislation reauthorizing the assault weapons ban or banning a firearm because it "looks dangerous." He also does not support federal legislation to close the so-called "gun show loophole." He supports the bipartisan immunity legislation for gun manufacturers currently before Congress.

Keep in mind, he will vote control of the Senate over to the Democrats.  Party does make a difference...

You got that from his campaign page.  Nothin' but the straight dope there

Tony and the Alaska Democrats MUST be pro-gun, if they have any interest in holding office.  His Lt Governor who ran for Governor in 2002 made a big deal out of her going shopping for a handgun for her concealed carry (back when we had them; you no longer need permission to carry concealed in Alaska) and how she loves shooting.

You knew she was full of it, but who cares how she really feels, as long as she votes the right way.

From the NRA's Nov 2004 American Rifleman, Lisa Murkowski gets the nod over her opponent.

Me too, but he's done just about everything conceivable to piss off Alaskans.

Frank.  Lisa is boring and mediocre, but lacks the imperious arrogance of her father.

If you expect your appointed daughter to win her senate election, here are some tips:

1.  Dont end subsidies for the old folks who pioneered Alaska and built it.
2.  Dont start talking about ending the distribution of free money every Alaskan gets every year
3.  After dicking the little people, don't say that you need a private jet and suggest using Homeland Security funds to pay for it.
4.  Dont appoint a self-righteous Christian conservative who has contempt for public referendums to be your lieutenant governor.  (This guy also publicy said Lisa Murkowski doesn't stand a chance of being re-elected).

It's like he's trying to alienate Alaskans, and expects us to eat it to keep Republicans and our very powerful senior senator in place.

So is she going to win her senate seat back?

It doesn't look good.  Knowles spent his 8 years as governor sucking up to the native and rural voters.

PARTY is the difference. By the time you are a nationally recognized representative of your state, be it Senate or House... You have SO many people backing you with their money so that you will push THEIR agenda that you are just a puppet on a string. Very few break the habit, SEE: Scarborough.

Man, its been a while, but he stopped the APD from selling confiscated guns and started having them destroyed.

His police cheif was a big city antigun type; his successor fired him.

Tony might vote the right way in the senate, but only on high profile gun stuff.

Frank Church of Idaho might show him the way.  Very liberal in a conservative state, but voted straight pro-gun.  During elections, he would scream "gun control!  gun control!" and win every time.

He will vote however the Dem leadership tells him.  Both Byrd and Rockafeller are Dems from West VA, a state with more guns per capita than even Alaska, and they always vote anti-gun.

Very strange that Alaska would vote to have a senator who will be in permanent minority status.

It is not strange Ak would vote for a Democrat.

Part of the statewide election formula for Democrats is to appeal to to the liberals in Fairbanks, Juneau, and Fairbanks.  That is 40% of the electorate.  If you can get the rural/native vote you made it.  Another is to appeal the the Panhandle/SE voters.
