The reason I ask this is because I was talking the other day with a co worker. We started talking about the 1994 AWB turns out he was 11 years old and of course didnt know anything about it till recently. I was telling him how people were running scared and buying up anything that wasnt naild down. Also how some people were scared that mere possesion of a 30 round mag was a felony. I know of one person who locked up all his standard cap mags in the closet and didnt take them out for ten years.

So how old were you and what were your experiences?

I think 11 years younger.

Really, I did buy some thing's before the ban. The last one I bought was at about 7 PM and the ban went into effect at midnight.

24 and I sold an SKS to get a SA93(akm) before the ban. It was all I could afford at the time.

I was in another world.

It seems I too was 11 at the time. I remember my older brother buying a Desert Eagle and some mention that it was the only pistol in the AWB. Other than that I had no idea anything had happened.

I already had my AR and several 20 and 30 round magazines. But I watched and stayed informed, as best I could.

The two stocking gunstores in town however didn't. So according to them it was illegal to put a high capacity magazine in a post-ban gun. It took 2 or 3 years before they dropped this wonderful piece of advise.

And yes, people were buying all kinds of stuff. Prices went through the roof on mags. In fact, here in western Colo. we still have preban prices on magazines and rifles. Seems nobody has gotten the word that the AWB died nearly a year ago.

Too young to buy.

I was busy enjoying my 10\22.

It was the ban that made me interested in EBR's.

I was 17 in Sep 1994, and (now) I remember reading about some new law that limited magazines to 10 rounds. I thought, "why", then forgot the whole thing for 10 years. By "why" I don't mean'why' as in shock or disbelief, but 'why' as in 'I don't get it'

* Then I was not as pro gun as I am now. I wasn't con gun, just indifferent.

22 Years Old.

I already had two pistols and went out and bought a Mini-14.

(Actually got a SWEEEET deal on it - couldn't afford or find an AR-15 at the time)

I was 16, didn't even pay attention politics and legislation at the time. First time it really affected me was when I went to buy another 25 round mag for my 10/22 and the damn thing was labeled at almost $100. Needless to say I made due with what I had.

Edit: Just wanted to add that since it expired and I have the means to due so, I have been stocking up on things that it could affect again in the future.

I was 21 at the time. I remember AR lowers were non existant. I also remember a 9mm Colt rifle getting disassembled at a gun show in order for it to be used as a 5.56 rifle. That rifle is still floating around the gunshow circut. I took my $650.00 Bushmaster rifle to a show and being offered well over a grand for it. New AR's always sold very quickly at any price. Glock mags were at an all time high.
