Mine is hitting 1.1 gigs routinely - wtf?
|

500MB
but I closed and reopened it last night it was up over 750MB prior to that I do keep a number of tabs open and leave FF running pretty much 24/7, but the memory usage still seems extreme |
|
Safari is much faster than Firefox...just installed it, and it is pretty nice.

I just upgraded (?) to Firefox 7.0.
About 10 tabs open at 301 MB. |

Firefox 7 running on Windows XP –– 154,828K with two windows open.
Memory usage dropped dramatically when I installed NoScript.. I have scripts and cookies tightly restricted on my desktop ( NoScript and MAXA Cookie Manager, along with Kaspersky Anti-Virus, Malwarebytes, and Hijack This ). Once I kept all the garbage from running in the background, memory usage dropped from multi-Megs to a few hundred K. Edited to correct pre-caffeine typos. |

Before I switched to Google Chrome, FF7 regularly went up around 1GB, and caused all sorts of problems on my comp. (ie. freezing, crashing, and even got the blue screen a couple of times). Since I switched to Chrome I am running around 100 Mb, and have not had a single freezing/crashing issue. I will not go back to FF unless they make some drastic changes.

147MB with three tabs. Rarely have a lot of tabs open, have not had it hog my memory in about a year.

I guess I'll be the first to say it: 1.21 Jiggawatts!! must be running the Flux Capacitor app... |
|
240mb, not too much. But then I really don't tax it like some of you do, I just don't run a bunch of open tabs, etc., and always close/open stuff. I'm gonna switch to it from Safari for a few days and leave tabs and stuff open and never close it, just to see.

1.1GB. Seems about right. I restart mine when it gets into the neighborhood of 1.5GB. It's at 900MB now, so I'm guessing it will be there by this afternoon.
It's been this way for me since v1.5. 6 versions later.... They're testing my patience. |
|
Right after I read this I got an AVG pop up message stating Firefox was using 500mb of memory.

6 tabs open. Been running for about 12 hours (opening/closing tabs).
360MB FF 7.0 OSX Lion |

Jesus christ people, 1gb? What the fuck are you doing? I've never had any version of FF go over 500mb and that was with like 15 tabs open, reading different articles/looking at pics and looking at PDF files.

I could have 15 tabs in one window when researching something at work, and I"ll have 5-6 windows open. There are also times when I might not close it down for 3 days in a row, hell sometimes all week depending on the research. Shit adds up. |

288,000k with 24 tabs open.
on an XP machine On FF ver 7 It was really peppy when I first DL'ed it, now not so much... |

Quoted: I just upgraded (?) to Firefox 7.0. About 10 tabs open at 301 MB. More or less the same here. 7.01 on Win 7. m ETA: As RightHandTwist, I have NoScript and AdBlock running as well. Prevents lots of extraneous bullshit from running. ETA2: I just checked, and Chrome 14.0.835.186 m was using over 1.4GB with six tabs open... |

FF 7.01
Tabs: Gmail and ar15.com open Add ons: NoScript, forecastfox, exif viewer, status 4 evar 146mb. |
|
FF is listing 141mb
but chrome is listed about 6 times, weird?
|
|
For the last time: this is a memory leak. It climbs over time. The longer you have FF open, the higher that usage climbs.
|
|
I wouldn't have the first clue as to how to check said figures.
Arfcom said "Evil: Use Firefox!". Ergo, Evil used Firefox. I know what I do not know. |
|
Zero...I'm using good old Internet Explorer that everyone hates.
