Filled up yesterday, pump to my right was $5 and the next $2. Very little gas. Bet they both bought smokes. ( I did when I was only putting $5 in but that gave me 5 gal back then) Do you always fill? I do. Always. You never know when you'll need it....
Touareg costs over $70 when the light comes on... ![]() |

I always top it off. Cost me about $40 from empty light to full (14.5 gallons).
Usually fill around 1/2 tank, try to not let it get below 1/4 tank. |
if i'm strapped for cash, 20 bucks, but i'll usually fill up, from empty it takes me just about 30-35 bucks.
Always fill it up.. I'll have to spend the money at some point, might as well be now.
I can only recall maybe 4 or 5 times in my whole life that I didn't fill up the tank all the way.
Always try to keep a half tank so look to fill up when I hit the halfway mark. Makes sure I have some gas if something comes up plus it less painful that way.

I never fill...usually a little over 3/4 tank.
Subconcious thing, the first time I filled my first car up, the next day the head gasket blew out in 2 cylinders. Car sat for a little over a month. When I got it running again, all the fuel had gone bad, and the car ran like crap until I got all the gas out and put fresh in... |
Fill up and top off (if I'm out bound).
Sometime I even spill a little bit for my dead homies. |
22 gallons or so
allays fill it up. generally get it down to quarter tank. |
I usually put $20 in or fill it. I've got a buddy who keeps it at 1/4 tank or less (in a friggin' F-150) because it will keep his girlfriend and him from wasting all their gas.
![]() Must be why she called me when she ran out of gas less than a mile from their house Friday. I wasn't going to go help her regardless because she just bought a gas card the other day so I know she wasn't too broke to fill it up. She was crying too... if that was me I'd accept the foot-to-ass treatment I was dealt and start walking. It's only a mile. |
Always fill it up, easier to calculate overall fuel economy.
Light comes on and I put in around 10 gallons. Usually that's at 460-500 miles. |
Top it off (from half a tank), usually around $40, give or take $5.
Never less than 1/2 tank, always fill it up. I'm never less than 1/2 even on road trips, if I see a gas station I top it.
A full tank in my truck costs about $85-90. It has a 25 gal tank. I typically won't let it go below half before refilling.
I also keep 5-15 gallons of stabilized fuel at hom in the garage. |
I typically top off. Is around $30 for my car.

In my truck..I fill up when I got the money.
In my Laser..a gallon of gas weighs 6.15 lbs, 16 gallon tank. 16 gallons= 98 lbs. 2 gallons(1/8 tank)=12.3lbs. A rule of thumb is 100lbs of weight shaved = .10 of a second shaved 1/4 mile time. I keep my reservoirs low, fuel tank low and boost high. ![]() |

I'm not so much broke as lazy. I either fill up, or fill until I get tired of waiting. Might be $5.29, might be $17.33, but never more than $45.
Except for my truck. This might be stupid, but I don't fill the truck because I only drive it maybe once a month. In this case, I know the mileage the truck gets, so I estimate how many gallons I will need and stop once I reach that point. |

Touareg costs over $70 when the light comes on... ![]() My car's onboard computer won't even detect less than 3 gallons being added when the low fuel alarm sounds. I tried it once because all i had was $5. Hop in the car and drive away, the fuel to empty display said the same thing as when i pulled in and continued to count down from 25 miles to empty. Glad i was only 5 miles from home and going downhill. Ford Dealer said that when this car is at 1 gallon(~30 miles) of remaining fuel, any additional gas added under 3 gallons is not detected by the computer and sensor in the tank. Topping off the tank registers though ![]() |

I drive a diesel, so I top off or whenever I hit the $75.00 limit so many stations have in place these days.
Always top it off, and never below a 1/3. Burned up two fuel pumps riding on low tanks, never again.
I always fill and try to never get lower than 1/4. When I was at the station the other day a guy pre-paid for $2 worth of gas, but was buying beer and junk.

i will be the weirdo.
I sometime only drop in whatever cash i have, so sometimes its 20, other times its 5. I dont have a card to put it on, so it gets what it gets! |
I always fill up my tank, unless I absolutely need gas and am forced to purchase at a station that has higher gas prices, in which case I put in just slightly above what I'll need to get to a station with competitive prices.
I figured out a while ago that the hassle of stopping for gas didn't save me any money if I did it more often. Once I got to where I could afford to fill 'er up, I started doing that whenever I stopped for gas. I've done so ever since.
So, fill 'er up is what I do now. I am the only driver of the car, so I don't have to worry about someone else burning my gas. |

Top it off, whatever it costs. Yep In winter, I fill up when I hit a half tank as well |

Soon as the peg hit's half tank...back to full....half is my empty. I am in FL...with the threat of Hurricanes...also keep an extra 50 gallons in reserve. |
I never fall below half a tank. Always fill it. Whats the point of putting in ten or twenty. Its not like its gonna get cheaper if you wait, and its not like you're going to get by with less gas.
I try my best to keep it at half, just in case I have to bug to the hills.
About 500lbs...equal to $685 per trip, I do about four a day.

Happiness is a full gas tank, full food pantry, and full ammo can. Live life accordingly.
I usually fill it up, but lately that's pretty hard to do, because money's tight.
With the Dodge, diesel price of ~2.87 per gallon and running it until the light comes on means around 31-32 gallons....that's a lot of money for a fillup, to me. |
Either I put in $40 to top it off or fill it up from the bottom which right now is about $115

Filling the tank is a chore. I want to do chores as few times as possible. Fill it up.
I always fill it up.
I am a sales engineer and never know when I will need to make a trip. Better to be safe than sorry. |

About $40 to $45 in my Wrangler. About $60 to $65. in the wifes Ram.
Per week. ![]() |

Call your CC company and see if they'll increase the limit (sometimes it's related to the card, not the gas station). I fill up at 3/8 tank or otherwise I have to swipe the card twice to top it off. Suburban, 44 gallon gas tank. |

I always fill it up.
I've got better things to do than stop at a gas station every 25 miles to put in $5 worth of gas. |
Our house rule is fill'er up whenever we get down to half a tank. Don't want to be sucking fumes whenever the next "Gas is going to $xxxx a gallon tomorrow!" panic starts.
