My membership is due at my local range and I got to thinking, who else actually has to pay to shoot? Us folks out here in the east dont have a lot of public places to shoot, so we have to get memberships at ranges...which completely sucks. The nearest National Forests to me are 5+ hours by truck....a little far for an afternoon of shooting. My buddies out west just shoot in the back yard, or go out into the mountains....out here there isnt anywhere open enough to just go target shoot. PA used to have a public range nearby but it was closed down last year. Looks like I have to drop another $200 if I want to have a regular place to shoot near home.
There is a guy with a farm the next town over...he will let folks shoot on his property for $10 a day. He set up a nice 100 yard range...does a good business. I like that place in the summer, but I still cant get past having to pay just to target shoot |

Free at outdoor range
$10 a trip at indoor, membership is too much for me, its cheaper to pay by trip |
It depends on how much I want pay myself to shoot at my range.
Ten bucks per shoot or I go to the forest for the price of the gas to get there. Not as much fun but cheaper.

It really is tough in the East. But it isn't too expensive for me.
One range is only $25 a year for membership and $3 every time to go shooting. You leave the money in a locked box on the honor system. It's 40 minutes away so I rarely go shooting there. I want to help support them though. Second range is only 8 minutes from my house for $55 a year, all you can shoot. I was there today after work to shoot my Mosin-Nagant M-44. I also shoot at a private sand pit for free (ETA only 10 minutes away). It has a locked gate but they gave me a key. The sand berms keep changing because it belongs to a private contracting company and they keep taking sand away. Best thing to do is support gun ranges so they stay open. |

Free, front yard for pistol, WMA range for rifle only 25min away.
$7 indoor with LE discount (or $12 when some clown is running the desk) and $15 for outdoor. They raised the damn rates from $10!
$150 a year at the Scarborough Fish and Game. But it's well worth it here. because of all the ranges we have, 50, 100, and 100-400 yard range. They are putting in a 600 yard before this summer!
Our 25 yard pistol range is a walk up range so we can shoot advancing to the target. |
Only range close to me costs 350 a year 100 yrds only. F that huh
$30 a year for the outdoor range we go to
i dont remember how much it is for indoor time--i dont go there often and hubby always pays |
Depending where I go either $5/day or for free at the county run range, I guess I pay for the free range in taxes.
$43 per year.
Been telling the range master that I need to renew since back in July. He keeps telling me "later." |
Free to shoot at the State owned range. $15 a year membership to the club that maintains it.
None, my restaurant has a range upstairs next door that I can shoot all I went when I want
Was $100 a year at the club in town, now upto $150 a year.
Shooting on weekends in the winter there sucks. Usually so many people I just turn around and go home. In the summer, it's much better as days are longer, so range time after work is a possibility most nights. |
$0.00. Just the gas I burn driving around killin' wild animals.
$20/yr. And it's pretty convenient as it's only 4 miles from the house. Only bad thing is there's no skeet range, but to shoot that, the DNR range (free) is only 15 minutes away.

20 Bucks a Day , out doors . Great Pit. 100 yrd yard range, shot gun stations, pistol too.
$7.00m a day at the two indoor 25M ranges I go to. Free at either of the ranges my employer contracts with. 2hr drive to shoot for free on Cali state land or BLM land.
$20 a year, combination to the gate, go whenever you want, rifle pistol and trap.
SRM |
$4.50/hour. Not too bad since I am rarely there more than two hours any time I visit so I usually pay about 6 bucks a trip.

is that the one in Pungo? |
Oh, yeah, and $20 for a spot at the line for the machine gun shoots. See ya on Sunday! |
SF&G is a damn good shooting range. Been there a few times as a visitor. |
And where might that be......... ETA: $9/ hr. for indoor pistol range I've never paid to shoot long guns outdoors. |
$10 bucks a year, One time charge of $1 for the key to the rifle range! Oh and it comes with a complimentary Sportsmans Club membership!!
$160 at one club, $150 at another, $10 hour at county run/owned range no annual dues though

Pennsylvania State Game Lands range on Rt6. Sucks with a 3 shot rule in rifles, 6 in handguns, but it's got benches and 25/50/100yds. Good for basic marksmanship practice at a known distance. Also shoot at NY State Multi-Use Land. Just a small backstop in the woods, that's my plinking/blasting range. |
Nothing.
I have a 100 yard range at my house. When I want to shoot longer, one of my buddies has a 600 yard range at his house. |
