My membership is due at my local range and I got to thinking, who else actually has to pay to shoot? Us folks out here in the east dont have a lot of public places to shoot, so we have to get memberships at ranges...which completely sucks. The nearest National Forests to me are 5+ hours by truck....a little far for an afternoon of shooting. My buddies out west just shoot in the back yard, or go out into the mountains....out here there isnt anywhere open enough to just go target shoot. PA used to have a public range nearby but it was closed down last year. Looks like I have to drop another $200 if I want to have a regular place to shoot near home.

There is a guy with a farm the next town over...he will let folks shoot on his property for $10 a day. He set up a nice 100 yard range...does a good business. I like that place in the summer, but I still cant get past having to pay just to target shoot

Ten bucks per shoot or I go to the forest for the price of the gas to get there. Not as much fun but cheaper.

It really is tough in the East.  But it isn't too expensive for me.

One range is only $25 a year for membership and $3 every time to go shooting.  You leave the money in a locked box on the honor system.  It's 40 minutes away so I rarely go shooting there.  I want to help support them though.

Second range is only 8 minutes from my house for $55 a year, all you can shoot.  I was there today after work to shoot my Mosin-Nagant M-44.

I also shoot at a private sand pit for free (ETA only 10 minutes away).  It has a locked gate but they gave me a key.  The sand berms keep changing because it belongs to a private contracting company and they keep taking sand away.

Best thing to do is support gun ranges so they stay open.

$150 a year at the Scarborough Fish and Game.  But it's well worth it here. because of all the ranges we have, 50, 100, and 100-400 yard range.  They are putting in a 600 yard before this summer!

Our 25 yard pistol range is a walk up range so we can shoot advancing to the target.

Was $100 a year at the club in town, now upto $150 a year.

Shooting on weekends in the winter there sucks.  Usually so many people I just turn around and go home.
In the summer, it's much better as days are longer, so range time after work is a possibility most nights.

$20/yr.  And it's pretty convenient as it's only 4 miles from the house.  Only bad thing is there's no skeet range, but to shoot that, the DNR range (free) is only 15 minutes away.

$40 a year, gets me a CMP affiliate club with 3 indoor 24/7 ranges, rifle to 200,archery with walk through, sporting clays with 3 trap houses. Actually it gets me the rifle and pistol ranges because that's all I shoot but the rest is an option.Macro, where are you, maybe we can hook up. Took me 3 years and 3 clubs to find a good one, they're going away slowly.

Club membership here is £70 per annum
Shoot any day/any time/any amount ..no extra fee

It is located in a lovely secluded valley and the backstop is a mountain.
Here's a pic of jasondcrum shooting my AR on our range last time he visted Wales from sunny Texas.

Cheers

Is it just me.....or does anyone else cringe when they see pics of people shooting on ranges covered in a 2 inch thick layer of shells and shotgun cartridges?....do these people have no respect for thier ranges?

Pennsylvania State Game Lands range on Rt6. Sucks with a 3 shot rule in rifles, 6 in handguns, but it's got benches and 25/50/100yds. Good for basic marksmanship practice at a known distance.

Also shoot at NY State Multi-Use Land. Just a small backstop in the woods, that's my plinking/blasting range.
