I ask because for the past three months I thought it'd be a good idea to start running in my vest with my carbine to get some training in.

I try to move at least 3 miles a day, two to three days a week, with nine full AR mags, four full pistol mags, pistol, rifle, and 3L hydration pack. Honestly can't tell if it's been a benefit to my regular regiment or not.

More recently I've been watching rifle class vids, attending rifle classes, and I notice a lot of these folks are not comfortable with the gear, shed it off and get tired, can't handle cold and hot weather very well. And I think a lot of physical training can benefit us all.

After all....how you gonna train to fight if you aren't fit enough to at least stay in the fight. I'm not one of those TEOTWAWKI guys but if you got that mindset, seems like you should be physically and mentally prepared too....not just with weapons, ammo, and food.

Many good points.

I do some cross country runs in full gear and it really lets you know what will and wont work.

From what I have seen alot of the TEOTWAWKI folks can survive along time without any food.

I shoot a lot of courses in full gear and I'm picking up a weight vest to simulate my duty kit without getting it wet/ dirty all the time.

I do not exercise or train in any gear, since realistically I will never be caught in a situation where I am in full gear, with all of that at my disposal.

All my practice is done in my every-day clothes... Train how you fight, and all that.

Yeah I guess the majority of what I'm talking about is using your shooting stuff as a weighted vest for exercise.

Yeah, gets you used to the gear. And tells you if stuff is going to hold up, if you should reposition certain things, if certain things fall off/out. Pretty cool.

Few miles with the rifle really puts that sling into use as well.

I work for a gear company, and the gear I received from them, I wear when I do my shooting drills.  It makes a world of difference if one plans on every using that gear for defense.  It locks in paramount muscle memory that is completely changed when that gear is not present (if we are talking about something that decreases mobility in any way shape or form).  Especially with soft and hard armor inserted.  If you plan on having it, I def recommend training in it.  Just try not to scare the neighbors if you decide to play dressup around the house because you thought it was a good idea to wear full gear while doing P90x.

I would love to, but since Im alrady THAT GUY(scary Marine tats and all) at my gym.  I don't want every one to think Im batshit crazy.  I do notice when I take training classes, my shoulders get sore from the sling though.  Although when I was 19 or 20 my shoulders got sore from a sling...so I don't think it toughens you up in that respect.
