Just wondering...looks like another US staple is being killed by the gov't. It is comforting to know that everything in Washington is in order if they have time to ban the bulb.
|
|
I have 3...though I should go buy a few cases...I'm not a fan of most of the CFLs out there...though they have gotten better over the last few years
|
|
I have 2. I really need to get more for the Dualbrite lights in front of the house,I haven't found any non incandescent that works well in those yet.
|
|
I'll just swap over to whale fat lamps after the incandescent ban.
I hate fluorescent lights! |
|
A case each of 60, 75, & 100w bulbs. It's a start. I like CFLs, but I don't like being told I have to buy only them.
|
|
For those areas where I want quick off and on, enough to last the rest of my life.
|
|
Oh, I forgot to say.........fairly good prices:

I don't have any stored. I actually prefer the CFLs. Mostly the above..although I do keep a few to stick in my outdoor dog's winter doghouse..the CFL bulbs not giving off much heat. Better get you a cargo container full of incandescent bulbs..the way they last....I get much better life out of the flourescent bulbs |
|
Same here, though I would prefer some good LED powered lights.

None. This foolishness will be fixed soon or LEDs will take over.

I thought we would still be able to get "New and Improved" incandescent bulbs

About 20 or 30, mostly 100 watt and I'm planning on laying in some more. I'm guessing that around fifty 100 watt and twenty-five 60 and 75 should last me and mine until sanity returns.

I am starting too. Not enough. There are so many times I turn a light on for only a few seconds.
I really don't like CFL's and they are damn expensive. |

Roughly a case of each in 100, 75, 60, and 40 watt range.
FYI - for all you CFL lovers out there, beware. I have this unfortunate uncontrollable condition of inexplicable clumseyness when I'm around CFL's that causes me to lose my balance and flail my arms and accidently break CFL's, releasing their dangerous levels of mercury out onto your floors and rugs and furniture ...... |

I don't have any stored. I actually prefer the CFLs. I hate the light from CFLs but I like the money savings. So I replaced the whole house & have a lot of incandescents (I'll make you a good deal on them if you feel so strongly about it). |

You can get CFL's in the 2,700K range at the "1000 bulbs" link I gave in my post above. They are like incandescents in color. They also have some in higher K numbers also. I like the 3,000K the best but YMMV. |

I don't have any stored. I actually prefer the CFLs. This. Like, how many floppy discs do you have stored? Technology is movement, movement is change. The incandescent bulb was invented 1879, 90% of the energy used is pissed away in heat. Then you run the AC to combat the heat??? Got it, now where's that damn floppy? Bill |

Make sure when you fill out the disclosure form when you sell your home the section about "known environmental hazards" to include every mercury filled CFL that was ever busted on the floor. Ain't technology great? MTB in our water and now mercury in our homes-Thanks Big Bro! Now we can all be Mad Hatters, I guess that would explain all the votes for Obama...... |

ROFL.
Seeing as the motion picture industry is a HEAVY user of incandescent lighting, we won't be seeing a ban on bulbs anytime soon. |

12.
6 I took out of the bathroom over the mirror when I moved in. And 6 more when the dumbass apartment maintenance folks replaced my CFLs with 6 new ICs. When I move out, I am taking my CFLs and putting theirs back, and giving the remaining 6 to my GF (assuming she's still around). Even in the winter time, my apartment has problems staying cool enough. I don't need to pay to heat my place and then pay again to cool it. Fuck that. I'll put up with what little inconvenience CFLs have to save money and be more comfortable.

I would rather stick to incandescent bulbs and pay a little more for a better quality of light. |

I have a mix of incandescent, CFL and now some LED.
I use CFL in fixtures that don't require dimming. Even dimmable CFL suck at dimming. I run a lot of dimmers, my home automation sytem is fully integrated. I have several rooms with dimmable LED, but not all bulb types or sizes are available in dimmable LED and the dimmable LED are still really expensive. So I still use quite a few incandescents. I have four cases of PR-30 incandescents in my attic. If nothing else, I'll sell the "pre ban bulbs" for a profit. |

Lost track, just keep throwing boxes on the shelf. Over a couple hundred and the number will grow. FUCK CHINA and FUCK the new bulbs.

Three or four. I keep them with my stash of buggy whips and 5.25" floppy disks.
ETA halogen bulbs rock. They produce a full spectrum, and have a more natural color temperature than traditional incandescent bulbs. |

Damn, I just remembered...
All the incandescents I took out were all brand new installed by the builder in our new construction home. Within a month, I replaced them all with CFLs... I think I have at least 18 incandescents rated at 57 watts each. I also have about 18 incandescent flood lights there were replaced. I totally forgot about those...so yes, I have a decent sized cache of incandescents. I may post them on the EE here |

I've never had to replace any of the CFLs I've installed over the past few years. |
