We get the tail ends of lake effect snow here in WV when the winds are right. It's usually about spent by the time it gets here though.

First ... what's snow?
I use to live in the far south suburbs of Chicago where the weather comes primarily from the north. The air comming off of Lake Michigan would pick up moisure and hit the cold land dumping an extra 50% or more snow on the area south of the lake. Chicago itself would get 4" say where we'd get 8-10" from the same storm. |

yeah but the majority of it gets dumped in the mountains, so at least you have some upside.... |

Yep I used to live in Rochester NY. I remember one time I cleared the ice and snow off my windshield, got in my car to drive, and the snow was piled so high I could't see over the hood. We often would get 4 feet of snow in a night.
