I completed the trifecta for 2016, and there is a Super race next weekend less than 10 miles from me and I I'm out with a back injury.

How many other Spartans and TM Legionaries are in here?

I've done 2 TM's. Couldn't do one now w/o some serious training for a while.

Spartans. Two triple tris and handful of separate races. My knees hate me.

I've done a few Spartan races and warrior dashes, but my body isn't build for distance shit. I have to ice my knees for days after a race and I had to get carbon fiber walking sticks so I could go elk hunting one year. I just stick to lifting things now.

I am slowing getting into GoRuck as my fitness level comes up. I am also thinking about doing a Tough Mudder one of these days. I don't want to mess myself up on one of those obstacles though.

I did a TM year before last..

Signed up for a Spartan maybe 4 years ago, but decided not to go due to some shoulder issues I was having at the time.

Going forward not sure I could do either one in the future...Starting to have some hip issues, and now there is some sort of pain/loss of mobility in the other arm/shoulder.  Getting old sucks...

I need to find other ways to stay/get more fit.

Did the Indiana sprint last year...only threw up 3 times.

It was awesome and I can't wait to do it again this year!

I've done dozens of running races and triathlons, but not a Spartan or TM. Maybe i should this year. What's hard about them?

Fuck no. Traditional weights (barbells, dumbbells, plates, and benches) at the gym and cardio. I hate crossfit.

Present.  I am done with them.  Did several Spartans, maybe 5 or 6.  Same obstacles, different terrains.  Moved on to do several go-rucks, those were fun.  Now I just do my own for free...

I've done a Beast, TM, half-marathons, I even crossfit.  I have a buddy that is Cadre so I'll probably GoRuck when they come through next.

Have you watched Rise of the Sufferfest yet?

Did 2 Spartan Sprints and a TM last year. Currently signed up for a Spartan Sprint, Terrain Race and a BoneFrog for this year. There is also another Spartan Sprint and a TM later this year, but not sure if I am going to do them. I do not do CrossFit.

I did one Tough Mudder in 2014.  I hate running, but a friend wanted to do it so I volunteered to join him.

I finished it but one of my knees was so aggravated that I was limping by the end.

I don't feel the need or desire to do one again.

I've done a couple tough mudders and I'm done.  I hate standing in line and getting held up at obstacles.  They are so crowded now and I dont have patience for it.

TM Legionaire
Spartan Super
Bad Ass Dash
Terrain Mud Run
5k races
10k races

They're all fun for the challenge. I like to do several a year as motivation and way points. Doesn't have to be perfect, just want to do better than last time.

If you like adventure races, kick it up a notch and try Cola Warrior.

I've done a few Warrior Dash races........but I finally realized that paying someone $80+ to run through the mud for 30min was not worth it.  Those places that organize those races much be making a fortune!!

Done a few Tough Mudders. Fun, but expensive.

Most challenging Mudder I did was LA. Holy shit that course was hilly. I didn't train for my first one and thought it was easier than that. Brutal.

Done a couple of each and was at one time a cross fit fanatic. 2014/2015 were probably the fittest years of my life. Did a couple 1/2 marathons in that same timeframe. All of the races are a great fitness motivator and other than waiting in line, a pretty fun time.

while waiting in line do you taunt and harass your opponents?

I did the trifecta in 2015. South Carolina Beast made me hate mud.
Last year did the Blue Mountain Super and the Bone Frog 9 mile. The bone frog was my only race I did by myself for time. 1:22:17

Did two with two of my co-workers a few years ago.  After the 2nd one I decided they were too expensive and hard on my knees. I'm the guy who left his shirt on.

They were fun though.

Check out say Ironman Arizona.  They've sold out all 2500 general entries at $750.  They have a few more slots left at $1400.

Since the race is a 140.6 miles total, at $750 that's $5.33 per mile.  The swim leg costs $12.80, the bike costs $597.44, and the run works out to $139.76.

If you take 13 hours to finish, that's about $58 per hour.

I used to run races with my wife to keep her company.  5k to a marathon.  I finally told her, "If it isn't longer than 13 miles, I ain't paying 50 bucks for a dumb T-shirt for a run I can replicate just getting out my door"

The original iron man was  bunch of guys in hawaii challenging each other and they did it on their own.

I'm doing the Ohio Warrior Dash this year.  Something I've always wanted to do and I'm not getting any younger...I'll be 41 by then.  I've done some 5Ks but it will be my first mud / obstacle course run...and likely, my last.

I agree.  Some of the local 5Ks and 10Ks are ridiculously priced.  One that comes to mind wants $45 for a 5K race on a multi-purpose trail, the same exact trail I can run on for free any other time except the one Saturday morning they're having the race. A couple water stations and a finish line and a cheap cotton T-shirt for $45?  Nope.

The World Triathlon Corp (WTC) that puts on Ironman-branded races (and defends that brand name to the death) puts on a really good race.  Well organized, well supported on course (2500 athletes, 3500 volunteers in Arizona).  Local police monitoring closed intersections and many miles of closed roadways for us to race on.  Great start line and finish line experience.  So the $750 gets you a lot, but still the same race was $350 when I first raced it in 2006.

I got bored with OCR's.

Been to one, been to them all. Especially Spartans. The whole series sucks since the Reebok sale and Reebok made everything cookie cutter/ 54' box truck capable. The old Spartans were something to have a go at.

The last 'good' Spartan I did was in Wintergreen..after that was when I got my Trifecta in one day in Ohio...if you aren't doing Elite or another 'competitor' heat, you can show up, walk and cheat the whole way and still get your medal and post your selfie.

Tough Mudders..meh.

I just did Bataan, indv heavy, this year and that was good to go, going again next year to really push it.. But having ran OCR's since 2010 and doing 8-10 per year..they are not fun or worth the cost or time anymore. $20.00+ parking, $80.00+ for the event..same venue's over and over and over again..

ETA:

I liked the Battelfrog series, those guys had a wired operation..did the Efx in Ohio where they hold the "OCR Worlds" at..it was great. But, they too sold out to TV and the college jock ESPN BS. At least they refunded the money unlike many others that went under. I was quite surprised.

I cut my tri teeth on what used to be called the bud light series.

I think it was 20 bucks with water stations every mile and free, unlimited bud light at the finish.  which I drank at 14.

The Warrior Dashes are easy. There was a 70+ y/o man at one and hanging in there.
TMs are fun.
Bone Frog is fun, but I hate running.
Basically I like the obstacles and hate running.
And the cost and added costs are getting up there, then add on a kid or so, then a partner; it starts adding up and getting pricey.

I'd like to run my dog on the last heat of a Warrior Dash and see what she'd do

Wife did the AT&T Park Sprint last May.

We did the Sacramento Sprint together last November.

We're doing our first Trifecta this year.  We already did the San Jose Super a couple weeks ago.  We'll to the Lake Tahoe Beast in September and the AT&T Park Sprint in November.

I'm really tempted to say F'it and do the super. I'd be walking most of it because of some limitations. I just don't want to lose my trifecta chance locally this year. There's a few races near me, this is the OLNY super.
