I mean the BEHIND THE NECK variety.
I went to a big 5A school in Texas. When I was a freshman we had a coach come around to see who could do the most. It seems that each of them had made a small wager on the side as to the outcome. As a lowly freshman, I didn't figure among their favorites, but I did 20 (as in twenty) of those things. Not anywhere as big or as strong as many of the upper classmen, I received a lot of sour grapes from those who felt they should have won. But boy DID I EVER FEEL GREAT!! PISS ON 'EM ALL, I THOUGHT!!!

How many can I do or how many did I used to be able to do? Answer: Then - about 18. Now - I would probably hurt myself!

8 those are pretty hard and if you stop doing them for a while you lose it.

When I was in the police academy in 1985 I did twenty-three (23). I was the smallest guy in the class.

Now, I wouldn't want to try!

Pull ups are all about body weight relative to physical arm strength. I was a skinny teen (135lbs) and could crank out pullups or pushups all day long even though my arms weren't real strong. Now, that I'm in my 40s and filled out (185lbs) I can't do as many even though I am much stronger in the arms.

I'm 52 and can knock out almost a dozen of the regular kind of pull up.

That ain't too bad.

15 no problem.  Lighter weight guys definitely have the advantage.  A massive weightlifter is obviously stronger than the little guy, but he's got way more weight to pull.

Exactly, I was 175lbs about a year ago, since then Ive been working out and am up to about 190lbs, I'm way stronger but the added mass holds me down

I'll agree that us small guys had an advantage. I'm 5'3" and in '85 I weighed 118, but I could bench 225. How I wish those days would return (the bench press part)

I can do these all day long. And I don't even need to stop for a potty break!

I can do allot. I mean I could do allot, in my teens I was thin, fit, and lightweight.
I tied the highschool record for rope climbing. Pull-ups were no problem, bench pressing was a problem.

Then one time I over strained myself and popped a huge boner.

Edited to pout: I blew my 3000 post milestone about popping a boner in HS gym class. [:(]

right now I can do around 12 - 13 but I once

I do three sets of 10 when I do my shoulders/tris workout.  Don't know how many I could do in a row over 10.

NOT ENOUGH.
Continuous-
Twenty of the kind where your in front of the bar(hands parallel to eachother) with your biceps doing most of the work.
About 10 of the kind with your hands on one long bar with the bar coming touching back of your neck.

As you can tell, I dont do much work on a pullup bar.

Two.  I was doing 4 a year ago, but I've stopped working out as much and really need to get back on it.  [:(]

When you're a big boy like me, they are hard.  4 pullups is half a ton.
