We bought this house last July. The previous owner did not forward his mail to wherever he went. He gets 5+ pieces of mail delivered daily and I have been returning them for months but the companies/agencies don't stop sending them. He's starting to get delinquent notices now, from the IRS, UT State Tax Commission and others. (Accidentally opened a couple not paying attention to whom they were addressed.) It doesn't require much effort on my part to mark the envelope and put it back in the box but it doesn't seem to matter to the sending parties.
A month ago he had a box of diabetic supplies show up with a "Must be refrigerated" sticker on the outside. I managed to get in touch with his real estate agent who came and picked it up. I asked him to pass on that his mail was not being forwarded.
I'm thinking this guy is hiding from something. We got the impression when we bought he was desperate. He accepted our offer that was $40K less than he was asking.
I'm kind of concerned he might still be using this address for things like credit applications and such.
Is there something I can fill out at the post office so they just send his mail back? I thought about finding his new address and submitting a forwarding order but the disclaimer says I have to be the person, agent, etc of the individual having their mail forwarded.
