I gave mine to my wife when we were dating. She was a senior and I had graduated the year before. I probably wore it about a year.

Some people wear them a long time. It seems that they can't get over being 18.

I never owned one.
Link Posted: 8/5/2005 11:43:34 AM EDT
never owned one either

For about 8 years after I got out of school, it was stolen at work, out of my tool box.

Never. I bought one, but gave it to the squeeze. She wore it on a necklace when she was a senior the year after I graduated. She gave it back to me when I gave her the engagement ring, and it's been in a box with the rest of my shit from high school ever since. Currently, the ring has a market value of about 3/4 of a gallon of gas.

ETA: It actually now resides in the same box with my wedding ring from failed marriage #1.

My wife recently took hers off. She is uh, older than most of you but younger than me. (she would kill me if I told her age)
Link Posted: 8/5/2005 11:45:01 AM EDT
Lost it after 6 months.
Link Posted: 8/5/2005 11:46:04 AM EDT
Had a nice one, wore it for about a year, then my family moved my senior year of high school.

So now I have a class ring from a school I didn't graduate from.

I never wasted my money on it. all I ever wanted from that school was a diploma.
Link Posted: 8/5/2005 11:47:41 AM EDT
I really never wore mine much. Most of time it was on some GF's finger.
Link Posted: 8/5/2005 11:48:09 AM EDT
The best day of my life was the day I graduated from High School. I never owned one. I walked of that stage a free man and never looked back.

I didn't go to highschool and I didn't get the ring.
Link Posted: 8/5/2005 11:52:37 AM EDT
wore the hs ring a bit my senior year I guess - but mostly worn by the squeeze of the moment I think.

undergrad ring was worn even less - in my field, the education is manditory, so bragging about it is kind of mute. A lot of other things are more important than where you graduated from and no use advertise that you did not grad from the same school as clients. likewise I am an ind-dema-publican at work.

I still wear mine because I earned the right.

Does the act of gadiating from high school still blow the doors off of the girls behind the counter at the Waffle House?
Link Posted: 8/5/2005 11:53:07 AM EDT
I was never gay, therefore, I never got one.

Link Posted: 8/5/2005 11:54:27 AM EDT
It was only cool when you were a senior in HS. After I started college it wasn't cool anymore to wear.
Link Posted: 8/5/2005 12:02:20 PM EDT
I never bought one.

Didn't care then and don't care now.

And now I have a college ring.
I do like both my school rings though - not the huge ass super bowl-esque types.
Simple, signet rings.

Actually I imagine gay guys would never been seen with such tacky jewelry.

I wore the high school ring until college and never got the college ring, but now 20 years later I wish I would have bought the college ring and not the high school one.

Just my senior year.

Now, my USNA ring rarely leaves my finger.
Link Posted: 8/5/2005 12:11:57 PM EDT
not a jewelry person
Link Posted: 8/5/2005 12:13:22 PM EDT
Never wanted one. I did get a University of Michigan Class ring. Its in my safe. I am not a jewerly type either.
Link Posted: 8/5/2005 12:13:23 PM EDT
A high school ring always seemed kind of silly to me. I never viewed graduating from high school to be that great of an achievement. To each his own, I guess.

Didn't bother with the High school ring... Waited till I could wear the real deal

Screw it, this deserves it's own thread...

Wore mine until I got married, then I just swapped rings. I got used to it, and I felt weird when I wasn't wearing it.

I got mine my junior year of high school, wore it that year, gave it to my girlfriend to wear my senior year, we broke up after that, and I wore it another year or so.
Link Posted: 8/5/2005 12:42:15 PM EDT
Never owned one. Hauled ass at seventeen to join up and never looked back. Served 28 years and went to school along the way and after retiring. Played at different jobs since then including university faculty...but never did get that darn HS ring. Happened to pick up a college ring along the way though...does that count?

I could see a college ring if you went someplace significant....maybe.

Only High School I could understand is a military academy of some kind.
Link Posted: 8/5/2005 12:45:47 PM EDT
I got it wore it for a month and then lost it. Waste of money. I would never buy one for my kids.
Link Posted: 8/5/2005 1:35:14 PM EDT
I still have mine but I haven't worn it in a while.

If you have one, wear it if you want. Hell, you earned it.
Link Posted: 8/5/2005 1:36:08 PM EDT
I never even thought about buying one.
Link Posted: 8/5/2005 1:36:40 PM EDT
Never had one.
Link Posted: 8/5/2005 2:07:51 PM EDT
I hated high school; didn't buy a ring.

My grandmother bought my college ring. I don't wear it much anymore.
Link Posted: 8/5/2005 2:09:06 PM EDT
I haven't worn it since I graduated.

Maybe I should.
Link Posted: 8/5/2005 9:21:19 PM EDT
Wore mine till I got my college ring. Guess I'll wear that till I get my retirement ring from the company I work for. But then again maybe not.............at the rate Uncle Author is messing with my hands I may not wear any rings much longer.
Link Posted: 8/5/2005 9:24:47 PM EDT
I lost my HS ring when I was in the Navy, I think it is in the bottom of the Med if I remember correctly
Link Posted: 8/5/2005 9:26:42 PM EDT
I didn't see a button for "Fairly often, until some lowlife burglar took it, all my guns, tv, stereo, etc., etc., etc."

That was about 25 years ago, but I still wish I had that ring. (and those guns, and.................)
Link Posted: 8/6/2005 5:17:45 AM EDT
I carried mine on my keychain until my mother picked up my car before I deployed to Iraq. She stuck it in a jewelry box with my Marine Corps ring, Eagle Scout medal, EGA from the Crucible, and my baby teeth. She seems to think I would lose all of that stuff if she gave it back.

never wore one, but I still hang my tassel from the mirror in my Camaro.

The chicks dig that......it shows you're really going somewhere.

Link Posted: 8/6/2005 5:23:51 AM EDT
Why anybody would even buy one escapes me.
Link Posted: 8/6/2005 5:30:09 AM EDT
About as long as I wore my wedding ring ... 15 minutes .
I still have both of them somewhere LNIB

Then again up until a couple of years ago I worked
with my hands for a living . Wearing a ring or a watch
was a risky proposition .
Link Posted: 8/6/2005 5:35:37 AM EDT
About a year after I got it, I dumped my girlfriend of the time. She kept it (wore it on a chain around her neck), and I didn't try to get it back as I wanted a clean break.

It was only 10k anyway
Link Posted: 8/6/2005 5:37:22 AM EDT
I still wear mines cause I just graduated.
