[ARCHIVED THREAD] - How long before there are openly gay cartoon characters on Saturday mornings?

My wife was watching cartoons with my kids last Saturday and commented how just about every show on PBS has a spanish speaking character.

I noticed that now, every adult evening series seem that it must have an openly gay character in it.

I put the two together and thought, when will it reach Saturday morning cartoons?

I remember that PBS ran into problems with a one time episode lesbian couple on a PBS cartoon, but when will cartoons have regular gay characters in them?

Not saying good or bad on this one, just want opinions.

No doubt she was a rug muncher. In the movies, she is obviously Bi., which is kinda sexy.

Then of course, you could always go back to Peppermint Patty from the Peanuts. I think she was created in ~~the late 60's~~ 1966. A sort of beatnik dyke.

And those three heads in mystery science theater.
