First guess 50-60 as well, maybe a hair faster.

eta- probably 70-80, video makes things look slow.

I will now do the simple trick of watching the linked videos of the same kind of boats on that river and find the speed.

It's a 1200hp+ turbine in a tiny boat, no sense if it's 60.

The whitewater turbine boats were reaching 125+ in 2012.  So yea, I'm sticking with 120+ range.

ETA: http://www.southlakecda.com/stories.htm

speeds up to 140 in white water

Im sayin 110 to 130. He was flying for sure.

I think that boat is on a treadmill though.  So zero mph.

Wow, I had no idea that existed. They have wings on the nose for downforce

The next video says capable of over 140.....

Gopro makes stuff look like it's going much faster than what it is.  I'll go with 70 based on my bassboat experience.  ETA well over 100 later in the video.

So you're saying it's gotta be going at least 80 then?

50-60 at the fastest moments.

no idea but that is absolutely insane.

how the fuck do they know where all the rocks / fallen trees are considering rivers are constantly changing... like monthly??

There's massive trees in the CO that are always moving during spring run-off just under the surface line and the water level is also constantly changing.   It just seems extremely dangerous lol.

Over 100 easy in the flat water.

I would want one of those if I lived in Oroville

My guess is around 80.

The bigger question is how they keep from sinking that boat, carrying around those gigantic set off balls.

I built gas RC boats that did 80+, boats go faster when out of the water and just the screw in the water.

That boat my very well be capable of 140+ mph, but it wasn't going anywhere near that fast in the video.

I've seen her boats push 120 on pump gas. I bet a turbine could push 140 easy.. I would wager that clip is well over 100.

My jet boat with a 350 pushed 65 mph on GPS.

No, its a race boat. Does NASCAR have jammers?

At 2:15, I'd have shut it down. That was some rough water.
At 4:30, he's shooting a rooster tail about 120 ft long.
So, I'm going with 120 mph at the 4:30 mark.

He's moving for sure.  I hope they had closed the river off for that little stunt so he doesn't end up doing this.

I would tag along.  I was thinking about the same on the speed.

i'm looking at the constant spray on the starboard side, and guessing that he's around 80 in places.  sense of speed is different in a boat than in a car.  you can drive 60mph on the road and it's nothing.  60mph is a small boat is really moving.  fastest i've ever been was ~50 in a fountain 38, and i decided that i didn't want to outrun my ability so i backed off the throttle.

Also read they can get up to 140+ which is CRAZY when you think about it, as the 3000HP H-1 unlimited hydroplanes are only going about 60 mph faster.

If the boat needs aerodynamic control surfaces, I'm not riding it.
