From a bolt locked open on an empty mag?  Shot to Shot? ~ 3 seconds for me

I have a similar thread in the training section for those wishing to discuss it seriously.

I don't reload.  I switch rifles and the wife reloads.

Takes me a couple minutes.  Takes me a bit to dig out my rounds and fill the mag back up.

Doesn't matter how fast you can reload if you can't hit shit the first time.

I've never timed myself, but I believe I'm still pretty fast for an old man.

Of course, not having to pry those bastards out of an old Alice pouch
helps, too.

My ak reload time is about 3 seconds also.  I will take a shot timer to it in the next couple weeks when I get my iphone.  Also it shows you that training outweighs accesories when another poster in the thread can reload his AK in the same time you can change a mag on your tricked out AR

When I was in the Marines we would do dry mag change drills for hours.  Got to the point where it took around 1 second or so.

If you mean securing the empty mag then maybe the AR would win since id have to find the mag I just slapped out of the AK.

the AR is

button , mag , button , bang.

the AK is
mag , slap , cycle , bang

Im sure if I practiced with the AR over and over and had the latest extended what ever on it it would be faster but with the Ak my primary grip never moves and my offhand does all the work... shrug I like my Arsenal better than any of my ARs anyway

Guys, it don't count when you do this in your living room or at the range.  You need to sprint 50-75 yards while carrying your rifle, then jump/climb a fence, shoot 30 rounds on your target, take cover...THEN reload...this is your true reload time....under stress.

I have been really trying to take more pics/video lately.  It motivates me to do better and it is my main hobby so I might as well take some pics for the fun of it.

using this I narrowed my time down quite a bit.  Its about 2.5 -2.6 seconds shot to shot.  Again, I will do it with a real shot timer and live ammo soon.

This plus someone shooting at you.

I would say I reload fast enough but not as fast as some.  As long as I don't get killed in the process I would consider it fast enough.

The magazine my hand is on will be in the rifle about the same time the one dropping hits the ground.

Don't have any vids of my AR15 reload but here is pistol and shotgun.

Pistol 10 meters has to be an A zone shot from the surrender. Sorry for the sideways video.

Pistol reload

Shotgun, 2 shots reload two and two more shots

Shotgun reload

Yea, but that doesn't sound as cool as ninja roles over walls and dropping tangos under stress.

But explaining muscle memory  to people is hard.
