Work called me yesterday and I got cancelled (called off).

The person they had working in my place is an idiot temp.  They need to cancel the temp's contract for incompetence.  Instead, they cancel me for the shift.

So tonight I'm supposed to work and I just called in out of spite.

Now I'm feeling like an idiot.  I am in OT and would have cleared about $300 for the shift.

I don't have anything to do tonight except maybe get a 6 pack and watch a movie.

Calling in out of spite probably won't get you too far...

Maybe you are the incompetant one and just don't know it.

My boss isn't real fond of me because I don't kiss her ass.  Everyone other than my boss tells I'm good at what I do.

The boss is the one who negotiated the 6 week contract for the temp to fill some holes and doesn't want to cancel the contract because it would make her look bad for hiring an idiot.

But I'm acting like an 18 year old, calling in out of spite aren't I?  I'm not real impressed with it after I've done it.

Now now, not so fast. What does her ass look like?  Is it nice?

1st, stop drinking, she will smell it on your breath tommorow then the gig is up.
Try watching a porno and eating cheetos.  You'll forget all about feeling bad for calling in.

When I get that urge, I remind myself not to bite off my nose to spite my face.

Apologize to her tomorrow. Tell her exactly what took place. Don't mention the reason because it is irrelevant. Let her know that you recognize what you did was wrong and that it will not happen again.

If I ran over her mother in the parking lot I wouldn't apologize to that evil woman.

This particular boss is likely on her way out.  The new CEO can't stand her.  If I can outlast her, I'll be golden.  Hell, I passed on a promotion with a nice raise just so I wouldn't have to work more directly with this person.

Anyway that's not the point.  Why would I own up to calling in sick when I wasn't sick?  Compounding a rash action (calling in sick) with a stupid action (admitting to lying about being sick) does not sound like a winner to me.

A man of integrity has no difficulty being respected. Most especially by himself. Perhaps if you were to experience a bit of unpleasantness over your lying, you might not do it again. If that were the case, then you will come out of this a better man. Or you can just hide and slide. Either way, you will know what kind of character you have.

Maybe in Mayberry fantasy land that attitude might work, however in the real world it is a great way to find oneself unemployed. I'd consider that a bit more than "a bit of unpleasantness."

Yeah, openly admit to you lying and calling in sick.  That'll show her!

Just go in tomorrow and be like, I had 24hr flu....aint no thang.

Look at it as a day off. Don't tell her you wern't sick. That could be grounds for termination.

Bad stomach bug got you.

Personally, thats idiotic to call in sick and miss 300 bucks. You coulda bought a pistol, gone to the range, and shot up a target you imagined was her.

hmm, yeah enjoy last evening.

Worst advice ever.  Calling in for no reason was juvenile, but admitting you weren't sick is just a ticket to possible unemployment.  Sometimes, what someone doesn't know won't hurt them.  This is one of those cases.

BS.  That's about the dumbest thing he could do.  He doesn't need to apologize or confess to anything because he did nothing wrong.  He is not that woman's slave.

He's a free man, and he doesn't have to go into work if he doesn't want to.

Honor. Integrity. Loyalty. These are all just words. Unless you live by them. Few men do

I suspect that Justa_TXguy is a man of integrity. That is why he made this thread to begin with. We all stumble and fall. Getting back up is the mark of a man. Hiding like a thief is not.

The world is hardly ever so black and white, and there is nothing honorable or smart about the unemployment line.

I might call in if my boss pissed me off but I get paid even if I'm not at work. Probably wouldn't do it if it cost me $300.
