In an ammo can? If so, is it boxed up or 'loose'? In a cardboard box? Sealed tin? Etc?

a bit of everything.  most is in cans, though my 7.62x54R is in the original wooden crate.  I keep my 7.62x39 in .50 cal cans except for my special stash in spam cans.  my indian .308(not so good) is in cardboard boxes and plastic sleeves, the way I bought it.  the rest is in .50 cal cans.

It stays in whatever packaging it comes in when I buy it. If I buy it boxed, it stays in he boxes. If it comes loose in an ammo can, it stays loose in an ammo can, etc...

All except for the ammo needed to load all of my mags. Mags stay loaded always.

I keep the live ammo in the drawer under my socks, and the empty cases in the drawer undr that.  The bottoms of both drawers are broken and starting to fall out.  I keep my clean clothes in stacks on an end table.

A box of .22 and a box of .38? I keep them locked in the safe, of course!

I keep all my ammo somewhere in the dirt backstop at the end of the range.

In a cardboard box in their original containers.  If it's reloads, I have some plastic storage boxes from Midway.

Two Greenlee jobsite lockers bolted to the floor in my shop for the majority of it.

A Stack On safe in the house for ammo only.

Heck, I'm so cheap I keep my case of wolf, 40 or so rounds of 3006, 1 rd of .22, 1 SKS, and 1 M1.

All in ONE Stack-on gun cabinet.

In one of the old kid killer refridgerators in the basement, where it's cool and dehumidifier going all the time.  Same room I store all my shooting equipment.

Some vacumn sealed 120 round packs of 5.56, and 9mm stored in a cool dark location.

The rest is in a giant Rubbermade 30 gallon tub.  It's all practice ammo in my mind, so I don't care about
moisture or longterm life span, it'll al get shot in a few years at most.

I leave it in the factory packaging.  sorted by caliber, in surplus ammo cans.

In original boxes in inside closets.

Ammo cans by caliber.

I'll keep the ammo in the original package it came in with the exception of 7.62x39 Wolf which I keep on strippers (in cans) for the SKS.

I do have a "ready can" next to the safe where I keep loaded mags and a few boxes and pouches of ammo for the bolt guns handy.

What isn't in my magazines is in ammo cases.

I need more ammo AND magazines!

Pistol rounds in the safe, on the shelves.

Most of my rifle ammo either in original battle packs and crates, or .50 cal ammo cans.

I keep most of mine in bandoleers in ammo cans. Or in magazines in ammo cans. Or in original boxes in ammo cans.

I reload for everything I shoot.

My .45acp lives in a range bag (up to 600rnds max).

My accurate .223 handloads are in saved boxes and stored in one of those large plastic weather proof ammo cases.  My junk (surplus) .223 plinking loads are in a plastic bag in a cardboard box....

All my bolt action hunting rounds are in Dillon plastic ammo boxes waiting for action.

My Sharps black powder cartridges are also in plastic ammo boxes.

My Airsoft rounds are kept secure in an electronically timed safe which only "I" know the combination to!!!!  OK - just kidding about the last one....

Some in ammo cans.

I load alot of .223 (for prairie dog vaporizing) & most of that is in 10lbs pails that used to hold dishwasher detergent.  Carry handle, sealed lid & stackable, about 1 gallon in size and available at your nearest Sam's club.
