Hello all,

I have been trying to figure out how to carry a IFAK on my duty gear. I am currently assigned to patrol. I am wanting to carry a tourniquet, israeli bandage, and maybe some guaze. I do not want to have one of the large, military style pouches on my belt for patrol work. If anyone is already doing this please let me know what you are using. If you don't mind include pictures please.

I wear a TAG Spartan II and I wear it at 1:00. This contract has me sporting a pistol only so I dont need a shingle of mag pouches there. I like it right up front. at 11 and 12 are 2 AR double mag pouches. One carries a sat phone and one a radio. Pistol mags are 10 and 9.  CAT is rubber banded to my left shoulder as is SOP with a lot units. I have a second CAT in my kit.. The kit was made for me by a Canuck JTF2 medic and it is larger and more comprehensive than most. Thats why I need to put it towards the front to make ingress and egress of vehicles and doorways easier.

EDIT: oops, just saw this was a cop thread. Info might still be relevant.

It is not realistic to carry it on my body. I keep it in the Active shooter bag.  I could probably carry a tournequet in my cargo pocket but its still not really practical with our appearance standards.

I canny two different types of bags other than my actual gear bag.  One is a Voodoo Tactical 2 day assault pack that has everything in it from protein bars and extra water, extra fleece gloves and hat, couple of blood draw kits, first aid kid, bino's, matches and a lighter, some spare pistol ammo, extra cleaning kit for pistol and rifle, ect.........

My main BOB for patrol is this U.S. Peacekeeper with 30 round mags.  In side I have an extra small flashlight in one side pouch and an extra pistol mag in the other, in the two main compartments are my first aid kit.  I put it together from Larue Tactical.  First Aid Kit with Celox Gauze, and Celox Applicator.  I'll be getting a couple more Isreali Bandages of Amazon soon enough.  It's a simple down and dirty kit.  As far as ammo goes, I have a 30 round mag in the weapon and a 20 rounder on my person,  Integrated Mag Pouch.  That gives me a total of 170 rounds of ammo.

We are issued IFAKs which have two loops on the back for belt attachemnt.  They're about 6x4x2. inches.  Per policy they are supposed to be sucured to the passenger side sun visor with the supplied harness so everybody knows where to find one.

A couple guys used the loops and put the kit on their belt just behind the radio.  Quite a few others have used the loops to secure the pouch to the vertical strap of the drop-leg taser holster, which is carried on the support side

It's small enough so the belt mount solution keeps a reasonable appearance.

This is very similar sans touniquet and israeli bandage

It would be against policy for us to carry one on our duty rig.  Stays in the car attached to the outside of my bag.  I can grab and go or if needed it's on the outside so I don't have to fumble around.  YMMV.

do you have cargo pants as part of your uniform?  How about in the large cargo pocket?

If thats your basic load expectation, then you really aren't going to be able to shrink your package below the size of a .mil IFAK, unless you intend to divide the items up between different pockets.

I carry a Maxpedition bag that has a 511 6x6" (or so) medical pouch on the outside, front.  It is molle attached so it can be dropped or taken off pretty easily (not so easy to put back on).  I use the bag as a go bag and it stays in the front seat of the car.  The problem is I find myself grabbing just the first aid kit when responding to some calls, then get stuck carrying it or keeping track of it.

I am going to experiment with a molle thigh rig, similar to this Spector Gear. My plan is to attach the first aid kit to the molle thigh extension.  I'll probably get the Spector Gear First Aid Pouch, and attach it to the thigh rig.  I plan to put a female adapter on the left side of my duty gear.  The idea is to have the thigh rig readily available so I can attach it as needed.  This could be an active shooter call, but we also get medical calls where the first aid kit is needed.

I saw a similar set up in use by a Las Vegas PD officer during a recent trip.
