I mean really....if all the papers changed the date, and all the news people changed the date...how hard do you think it would be to fool the general population that today is really 10-2-04?

Think about it....

The USNO's atomic clock is the worlds official timekeeper. But, of course at one point it was arbitratily set to start keeping time. Of course if you want to get picky, we are pretty sure the year is wrong, and know the 365.25 day year is incorrect.

Really good stuff there. What about different calenders.. With different mathematical equations. ours seems to be centered on 365 days per year. what if we could have 400 days per year? wouldnt you have more time for things? On a serious note I feel the reason for time zones are financial. No doubt.

Dont the Scotish Rite have their own calender they rule the world by?? lol

I used my sextant last night to check the stars against the Almanac, it is 10/1/04. My watch says it's the 31st but what does it know?

It has happened before. The date is only a general agreement as to how time is measured on a broad scale. At various times the calendar has been changed as our understanding of the mechanics of solar movement have been refined. So if Everyone decides to change, then the change takes. If it's just a paper or two or whatever, the majority opinion still rules.

Of course large percentages of the world still measure time against other calendars such as the chinese or Hebrew calendars.

I thought it was September 31st today. Then I remembered that I had to move the date on my watch forward...

Hey - I don't care what you guys say, this post was actually really helpful to me.

1. [AlanJackson]It's 5:00 somewhere.[/AlanJackson]

2. Actually, it's 10/2/2004 in Japan and Australia right now.

3. Motivation, sir, motivation. Such a coordinated effort would require that most people be "in" on it. Then it's not fooling anyone, but rather an agreement to eliminate 10/1/2004.

Some folks who are serious about this...

I read about one time in history where they determined the calendars were "off"... and made a correction of I don't know... a month or so? The people were extremely angry about those days being "stolen" from their life.
