I met a girl last week at a friends party, we got to talking, and really hit it off. We've been talking on the phone or through texts nearly every day since, so I asked her out, and we're going to dinner on Sunday. All normal to this point.
As it turns out, she's 19. I'm 28. My moral compass is screaming at me like a fucking ship's collision alarm, but the intellectual side of my brain did not at any point over the past few days of talking to her suspect she was still in her teens. I thought she was at least 22 or so, or even my age. Very mature, and was able to hold her own in conversations other than the fucking Casey Anthony trial. She told me she was still in college, but I honestly thought I was talking to a graduate student, and not a sophomore. No pics until we're at least a little more friendly. Rule one can suck it, in this case. Any thoughts, other than that I apparently need to re-tune my perceptions of people? Am I a fucking creeper for considering this? Enlighten me, ye hive'o'knowledge. |

I don't see a problem with it, but then my wife is 12 years younger than me. No pics, eff the rules. |
I'm 30 and have been hit on by one 19 year old, one 20 year old and one 23 year old in the past month. I see nothing wrong with it, though I didn't pursue the 19 year old

quit BS'ing us. you posted this to brag. i know i would No kidding. Otherwise, who gives a shit? ETA: Lessee...28/2+7=21. Uh-oh. |

Eh, I've always been more of a "Milf/Cougar" type myself but, if she's of age and "seems" to be (from your contact with her)
an "All grown-up girl" (?)..... No need to feel creepy. At 28 and 19 you're BOTH still babies to ME!..... |
Does she know how old you are?
I'd say, go on the date, make sure she knows how old you are and see how it goes. Then, balance the date, the hotness factor, the "my GF can't drink" factor, the "her dad" factor, and the "am I going to want to deal with a 19 year old" factor and have fun! |
What are you hunting for?
A wild ride? All that matters is that she's legal, attractive, and tolerable to be around briefly. Ensure that you don't bring children into a situation that you know is bound to get fucked up. A partner? Well, things get more complex there. You don't really have enough information yet to say yay or nay. |
She's awfully close to half your age.
Seriously? No issues. She's of legal age, it's obviously mutual, she seems more mature than the average 19yo. At one time in this country (< 100 years ago) it was expected for the wife to be in her teens and the husband to be much older. He wasn't supposed to be looking at wives until he could support them on his own, which meant a good 5-10 years building a career and place to live. |
Meh, you can't plan where or who you will fall in love with.
Ride that train as far as it will go. |

Men age better than women so it is best to start with green fruit.

Good friend of mine met a girl when he was about 30. She said she was a junior . He assumed she was talking college. She was 17. (They were casual aquaintences at that point). Couple years pass, they start dating. Married. One boy. Fast forward about 12 years and they're still happily married.
ymmv |
one of my friends told me "if theres grass on the field - play ball".
in some countries/cultures, its okay to have a younger mate. with all of the "Cougar town" stuff it may become more acceptable here. however, you really dont know how it will turn out. it could be short term. |
roll with it and see, it's the girl not the age
at 17 and 26 i got more than a few bad looks from people. 5 years later we've still got a hell of alot more stable relationship than the vast majority of my friends with wives and girlfriends their own age... |
I was 27 in Grad School..met an 18 year old...virgin....damn near married her
almost 20 years later and I still see her from time to time |
One of my nephews was in a similar situation.
It worked out ok for them, the wedding was last month. |
On my wedding day in 1994 I was 27 and my wife was 19. Still happily married.
Go for it. |
My wife is 9 years younger than me, and she was 20 when I met her. Dont see a problem with your situation, she sounds mature for her age.
Stop worrying about the age difference start being more concerned about how she treats you and how you treat her if that is good go with it. In the long run it will help you not to have a wondering eye to have a younger hottie you are with.
I fail to see the problem...
Maybe if you were 19 and she was 10 |
Quoted: Ummmm... She's totally legal. Who gives a fuck past that? |
triple check she is really 19, and not 17. Other than that, enjoy the date.

Take it slow.
If it pans out, watch carefully how she interacts with her father. If 'daddy' issues rise, bail the hell out. |

Go for it. I had lunch today (again) with a 26 year old and I just turned 43.
Watch out for the vagina hanging like a wizard's sleeve. 19 is pretty old in some places, can she handle a plow?
if you hit it off go for it. hell i know 35 year olds that act like high schoolers and vice-versa.
reminds me of the time i met a 21 yr old check on myspace (i know but it was years ago) i was in my late 20s. we agreed to meet for lunch. it was only till halfway thru the lunch that she told me that she was really 17 and still in high school. she lied on her myspace page. i had no idea since she looked her age... CHECK PLEASE and EJECT! |
Go for it. Heck, Im 46 and my GF is an Embryo.
So, you are good to go. |
I'm 64 and my girlfriend is 31. I don't see a problem as long as my wife doesn't find out.
Your fine.
My girlfriend is 14 years younger than me, but I'm 60. But when I was 57 I had a "Blame it on Rio" experience with a 20 year old that kinda creeped me out. |
