What are the major differences? I'm just looking for a plinking gun and don't want to shell out the $1200+ for a good '73 clone (although I masturbate over them daily).

Don't know the differences, but I love my Rossi .357mag. Its nearly displaced my 10/22 as favorite "fun gun".

My Rossi M92 in .357 Mag. has been an awesome gun of mine for many years. I understand it's a virtual clone of the original Winchester Model 1892.

They are the same, except for the safety, caliber (mine is a 44) and maybe the finish (mine is stainless). Great guns.

I have a blued one in 44 mag and I love it. the action is the same except for the safety on the bolt.

Yes, earlier models of the Rossi M92, if you can find one, don't have the funky safety thing. They are built like the original Winchesters.

The Rossi M92 with an octagon barrel, in 44mag, is the next buy. It will go well with the Ruger Bisley Vaquero.
But I only have cases and componets for maybe 2k rounds...
