I was, until I realized that the tea party is just the politically active wing of the Republican Party.

There are too many people who have hijacked the movement to make it about things other than fiscal responsibility.

Back when it was getting started yes. Now nope.

Renegade13B is correct!

if by fiscally conservative, libertarian leaning tea party, Yes. If by Michele Bachman religious right tea party, No.

Yes because less is more...
Link Posted: 9/29/2011 10:12:55 AM EST
Tea Party sounds more radical than Independent, so yes.

Already
Link Posted: 9/29/2011 10:17:23 AM EST
I consider myself part of the Tea Party movement but not a Tea Party member as there is no offical Tea Party organization, just a bunch of independent organizations doing their own thing.
Link Posted: 9/29/2011 10:19:29 AM EST
Not really a member as there is no actual "Tea Party." But I do find myself agreeing with most of their positions.

I don't care for either version.

Small Gov't, less spending. Everything else is just a side show.

I'm Independent

I didn't used to think of myself as a TP member.

But then I realized that despite some minor disagreements, I agree with the overall message and the plan, so why not throw my lot in?

So, yes, I am the Tea Party.

Yeah, but mostly because I think the Republican party needs to go and a real conservative party needs to come to power to lay waste to the bureaucracies and the leftists.
Link Posted: 9/29/2011 10:33:12 AM EST
Yes, is a fiscal conservative and social libertarian way.
Link Posted: 9/29/2011 10:34:40 AM EST
I agree with them most of the time and I fully support them in spirit, but I am not a member.

No party for me.

They always let you down.

I've been independent for several decades. Actually, I registered under the New Year's Party. It sounded better than Birthday Party.

This. Tea party is a movement, not an organization. There is however a political party called the Boston Tea Party, created as a more conservative alternative to the Libertarian Party, which can't seem to get its act together. But most people don't even know about that one.
