So at work today we were having a conversation about guns/shooting with multiple guys that are "gun nuts".
Taurus Judge kept coming up and everyone seemed to want one because of how awesome they are. People were saying they saw videos where the judge performed some mighty feat and are the best possible choice for home defense/carry/everything. Pretty much everyone in the conversation agreed that the Taurus Judge is pretty much the best gun in the world and if anyone was ever shot with one they would be completely exploded/ripped in half/vaporized. Anyone else have similar experience? Also anyone know if there has ever even been a documented case of a person being shot with a 410 round from a judge? |

I have shot flying clays with one. That was pretty cool.
It was a bit clunky though, certainly a neat addition to the collection. I would buy one in the future if I had the extra money and had some other guns bought first. |

I have several friends that have Judges. It's not my cup of tea but if they like them fine by me.
If my friends saw me wearing a mu-mu, I'm pretty sure I could bullshit my way into justifying it somehow. If they caught me carrying a Taurus Judge...
Probably not a good carry gun.. Unless you are fine with collateral damage.
Universally mocked by everyone who knows anything about a self defense handgun.
seemed dumb to me but alternating 45 with 000 3 pellet buck shot eh it'd tear something up pretty good
It seems like there is no middle ground when it comes to the Judge. You either love it or hate it.
Myself, I don't want one. I know lots of people that do, though. I have always considered it funny. I know lots of people who say they want one, but I only know a few people who have actually bought one. |
I think it would be fun for clays and about perfect for ptarmigan or grouse.
Not my cup of tea. Buddy just bought one, though, and he is happy. I'd rather carry a .357 with shot for snakes if I was looking to use a revolver as a snake gun.
FIL has one. I have shot it a number of times. I have even hit mini clay pigeons with it. The PDX ammo with the discs would be devastating at short range.
Its a neat little gun but not for me. |
Cool trail gun. Ok for a tackle box gun. Not a horrible choice for a survival weapon. Huge hunk of shit as a carry gun or HD gun.
Oh goody. We haven't had a TJ thread in awhile. Good thing the enemy didn't have them in WWII. Depending on which year they came in; they could have turned the tide or prolonged the war by at least three years. |
For me, it'd be a gun to show to friends and fuck off with. I don't see it having any paactical application other than a fun gun.
I'll get one someday, not for a carry gun but maybe one to keep between the seats in the truck would be the shizzle

Its a marketing gimmick. Absolutely retarded, it does nothing well.
A friend of mine was just telling me about his friends "badass judge with a laser sight on it with ammo that rips you apart" |

Quoted: They are handy with shot shells as a snake gun This is my opinion, as well. However, for personal defense, I'd rather use either a real, bonofied, shotgun loaded with 00 buckshot or a bonofied .40 or .45 caliber handgun (like my 1911's, for example). |

I was at the range one day, and there were two guys with one. Both guys were over 300lbs, and smoked the whole time. Apparently it was first time out with the Judge. Judge owner pulled it out and exclaimed how great it was. His buddy agreed. They blasted off a few rounds. One of them was pretty excited and said about how devastating it was. They offered it to me to shoot. My eyes welled up with tears as if they handed me Excalibur, but it was really because I was trying not to laugh, and I WAS overjoyed at the silliness of it all. The gun would not index to the next chamber single action. Owner guy said that it's no big deal. I shoot my wheelguns DA anyway, so I kinda agree, but the gun SHOULD function as designed. Trigger was ok, but not decent. Had some Win Duplex mix rounds, which have 2 or 3 .410 discs and some #6 shot. It would definitely hurt, but not sure it's a fight stopper (penetration?). They bore sized discs all impacted within about 2" at 7 yards. I'm sure at contact range, it would do the job. The shot patterns of game loads are minivan sized at 10 yards. It's real big and heavy, but I guess if you're a Holstein, you could carry it. I think I'd just stick with a .357, .41, .44spl etc.

Best gun ever!
Buy mine please. It's the "compact" version. Easily concealed. |
I'd like to have one to throw in the boat as a snake gun and otherwise as a general 'fuck around gun', but I don't view it as much more than that.
One of the stupidest things you could spend $400(?) on.
Like someone else said, I'd take my S&W 686 with 1 or 2 rounds of .38spl snake shot and the rest of the cylinder full of 158gr hardcast .357mag all day and every day for a trail gun. |
I've been thinking about getting one of those new ones that are 45 ACP, 45 LC, 410 as a novelty.

Gimmick/cash cow for Brazilian maker of mediocre guns.
Taurus achieved something with that gun I would have thought impossible a few years ago: they've convinced a shitload of rubes that a .410 shell is the ideal self defense round. |
I heard it shoots through armored plates with birdshot and its what the military is going to use to replace the M-4. I think it would be even better with a scope on it.

It’s an oversized, 5 shot, .45 Colt revolver. The .45 Colt is certainly an effective defensive round. Although I do wonder why it wouldn’t make more sense to use a modern .45 autopistol (.45 ACP is slightly weaker than the .45 Colt but the ammo selection makes up for it) Or, if you really want to shoot .45 Colt then why not get something like a Ruger Single Action or similar?
Or, you can shoot 000 buckshot loads out it. I guess that would work pretty good for self defense but I would personally rather have a good expanding hollowpoint out of a decent autopistol. And, of course, you can shoot birdshot. Now, some folks will tell you that birdshot is worthless for self defense. They are wrong about this of course. It’s probably considerably more effective than pepper spray at stopping an attack. But don’t mistake it for something that can reliably kill a determined attacker, cause it can’t. Personally, if I’m to the point of wanting to use a potentially lethal means of self defense then I want a weapon that I know can stop an attacker. Not one that might stop him. Anyway, if it’s what people want then go for it. But IMO it’s not something I would really want as a defensive tool… unless I’m more concerned with snakes than I am with humans. |

I know two ladies that have one, it seems to give them confidence. I like .45LC but prefer me in a Ruger Vaquero. .410? Meh
I wouldn't want to depend on one for my life.
I'd love to own/shoot one though. If I still lived in the country I'd think it would be a handy snake gun when I was working in the back lot. |
Gimmick. I have shot one. The trigger sucks ass.
I would rather have my M&P9 all day any day. |
Boutique gun, I have no use for it.
It does nothing well, it's a solution looking for a problem that doesn't exist. JMO... |
I'll be marketing choke tubes for it, and all you bastards will be jealous of my superior capitalist skills.
That, of course, is after the picatinny rail adapter, and the muzzle brake that I'm designing for it. And the bottle opener. Bayonet too. Hang on, I'm outa Gin, be right back |

Most popular handgun in 94% of trailer parks in a recent national poll.
Work with a yahoo who has one, he's also into chicken fighting, possum hunting at night, and appreciates a cold PBR. Still has most of his teeth. |
Fun range gun, don't see any other use, and a high price tag for something that's not practical in anything else like HD.
The watermelon video is silly. Oversized and no real purpose.
I will say the marketing guys at Taurus hit a home run. Lots of people buy the hype. The video of the guy in his truck at the range with one is dumb, but it sells guns. |
