Fry, Bake, Deep Fry, Roast or Smoke ??

we done a 22 pounder, made up a special injection brine using 1 qt. water mix in honey, blackstrap molasses, salt, pepper, thyme, oregano, onion powder, garlic powder & sage, using a veternarians syringe (needle is 6" long) i injected 4 syringe fulls of brine into breast, thighs & drumsticks, removed from soaking brine & hung up to dry glaze, then popped ol Tom in the smoker ystdy. & he is still there, internal temp. is 170* this morn.

then we use every thing but the "Gobble", clean the bones real good & use them for case hardening metal parts.......

I've only had deep fried once. But it was by far the best Turkey I ever had. When I get a place with some storage space, Im gonna get a big deep frier.

Just put a turkey breast on the smoker at 6:30. Small to medium turkey minus the back, wings, and legs. Got a big bag of charcoal, all the hickory I need, and all the time it takes. May eat at dinner, may eat at supper. Small festivities today, big gathering Saturday. The kids (joining us Saturday) wanted a Traditional Turkey, so it will be oven baked Saturday.

Smoked. When we have a bigger crowd we will do (2), the 2nd done traditionally in the oven. I'd love to try fried, but Lady Rain is dead set againstletting me have yet another bad (in her eyes.) eating choice. I tried to explain that there is pretty good evidence that smoking is not smart either, but then she counters with "do you want to give that up also?" I give.

[blue]There's only one way to do a Turkey. . . TURDUCKEN ! ! ! A chicken inside a duck inside of a turkey! All the birds are de-boned and a great stuffing (usually Cajun) too! You can make one, or if busy you can order one online. I've personally had the 'Breast of Turducken' from Cajunstuff.com and it was great. You can find whole birds all over the place too. Do a search on Google. Got to go eat one now! Enjoy![/blue]

Left at the supermarket... Failing that, on someone else's plate... IMHO, the appropriate Thanksgiving dinner is a ham, beef roast, venison (if you want to be 'authentic'), ANYTHING but gobbler... Just can't stand the taste of it, that's all...
