He’s not a bad choice, but he’s low energy.
People love Trump because an asshole without a filter willing to hurt feelings, say shit that makes you shake your head, and drop MOABs on a fucking third world valley with goat farmers and insurgents in sandals. I agree with previous posters who say DeS was a fool to challenge Trump. His ego and pride got the best of him. But, he CAN do the following:
1. Bow out sooner rather than later. 2. Endorse Trump asap. 3. Consolidate Trump's base for 2028, which is 70-80 million voters, by doing 1 and 2. They are there for the taking and none of the candidates seem aware of that. 4. Focus on FL. 5. Perhaps take a position in Trump's cabinet, if Trump wins. 6. If Trump doesn't win, it's no skin off DeS' ass. He still has the base for 2028. But his pride won't let him do that. If we could read his mind right now, DeS is thinking, "Welp, that was dumb. Desantis didn't blow it.
It's just that Trump's small base has a stranglehold on the party and anyone that enters the ring is a direct threat to Trump and must be destroyed. Until Trump steps aside, this will keep on happening. Like you can be the smartest guy in the room with the best ideas, but you won't win against a toddler. You can sink to the toddler's level and attempt to engage them but it's a losing battle and it just makes you look petty. But until the toddler leaves the room, the adults don't have a chance to accomplish anything. Because that toddler needs to be the center-of-attention at all times and can't deal with everyone not giving them 100% undivided attention. Trump voters carrying on like normal until the left locks him up and all of the self proclaimed "principled conservatives " smelling their own farts and screeching from the bushes. Million. Percent. Let that sink in. LOL I might be one of the few ARFCOMers that understands mathematics and statistics. It was said in jest but you know that. One million actual percent more snark isn't going to get Ron the nomination though.

OF course you would hear, "Hey there's a guy that actually won a post 2020/SCOTUS-Abortion-Decision statewide election, in a once purple state, by a larger margin than Trump did - but noooooooooo you just had to get tricked by polls because they flattered you." He couldn't even decisively beat Biden in the Presidential debates in 2020. When it comes to rational debate, Trump honestly kinda sucks. He's great at giving soundbites and saying stuff people want to hear but he's not a deep enough thinker or reflective enough to consider potential flaws in his logic and prepare answers for them ahead of time. Nor is he quick-witted enough to come up with those answers on the spot. The thing is, he probably doesn't need to beat anyone in a debate to get the GOP nomination this go around. The GOP is in disarray and he has the most cohesive and fired up faction in the GOP. The rest is split amongst half a dozen or more candidates. None of whom are mesmerizing. I don't think he has a chance of winning the election. But I think he's probably got a lock on the nomination. |
