ELMORE CO. (WSFA) - A home invasion suspect is in critical condition Thursday after being shot by a home owner. The incident happened around 2:15am on Nancy Court in the Redland Community of Elmore County.
Sheriff's investigators say 36-year-old Michael Dale Roberts tried to burglarize the shed of 64-year-old Forrest Megs.
Megs told authorities he heard a noise outside, and when he went to check it out he was threatened by Roberts.
Megs grabbed a shotgun and fired at Roberts, hitting him in the buttocks.
Roberts is listed in critical condition at UAB Hospital in Birmingham.
