Our lawn is looking anemic, I don't know if the neighbors dogs\cats are the reason or not
but, I do know that some of them "use" our lawn for their toilet, won't describe how I know.....

I was wondering if there are any ways to "encourage" them to use someone else's
lawn for a toilet, when I am not around, like cayenne pepper or something?

They sell animal repellant that is supposed to keep them away.

I bet it doesn't work worth a damn.

Get one of those motion sprinklers. Place it at just the right distance from the side walk that if some one comes close enough into your yard they get sprayed.

I will most likely be asleep, at work or here when\if they do it
I don't want to watch my yard like some of my friends do

That is a really good idea, motion detectors are the wave of the future
but, for now I was hoping to just "seed" the yard with something

my mom uses black pepper for the cats, maybe it will work for dogs.

They sniff the ground and leave.

Camphor flakes or the balls. Worked for us.

If I did happen to see them, I would have to shoot the owner because they
would probably notice it if I shot their dog while they were walking them

black papper, cayanne pepper and the stuff they sell at the home depot/lowes, whatever. I found it to work OK, except they will finfd a new spot.

There are also electric things that sense the animal and make it unpleasent for them.

Most effective though is carefully traing them with a low power pellet rifle. Quite, discrete, painfull. Right when you see the turd begin to be excreted then nail him in the hind quarter, but not with enough power to prenetrate skin though. They pick up on that method pretty fast. It shoud be enough power that the offender welps and runs immediatly off your land without finishing his business.

Yeah, animals will learn "NO" a lot quicker than people
but, these animals will be attached to their owner by a leash
(I just have to stop them from "using" a small spot)

Just be a nice neighbor and leave a bowl of green Kool-aid (Prestone flavor) out for the thirsty puppy.

Then shoot the owner in the hind quarter

Buy seriously, if telling the owner FIRST doesn't work THEN the mixture of pepper, cayanne and stuff they sell for that purpose should be fine on a small area

Call the JBT's.

Trespassing
Improper disposal of hazardous waste
et al

a training claymore works good too....

Actually, if your lawn is "anemic", dog poo is good for it. But I hate stepping in "land mines".

Once an animal has marked out your yard, or an area of it, as his personal bathroom, he'll keep coming back unless you do something to break his habit. BB or Pellet gun works well.
