I think I see the reason why they are not around anymore.

Small people living on a island with giant lizards makes for a evolutionary disaster.

just a note..

indian lore has strongly stated that in the wilderness the little people lived.

iriquios-choctaw-cherokee and numerous other tribes..

its common knowledge that the indians eons ago passed from asia thru the land bridge..

the chinese for years have been studying the cherokees for the similarities of their language-culture and genetics.

maybe this will validate some of those lores as well.

You're forgetting the Menehune, which are in Hawaiian lore. These "hobbits" seem to be south seas or polynesian.

I wonder who decided recorded history dates back 12000 years? The paintings in Chauvet Cave are estimated to be 30000 years old, other cave paintings are dated 15000 to 18000 years old, and those images definitely record the daily goin' ons. [Just thinking out loud here.]

As a Chinese person raised in Oklahoma, may I say that the Cherokee language and the Chinese language have absolutely nothing in common. Where did you hear this?
Link Posted: 10/28/2004 8:55:35 AM EST

the chinese government and universities have sent various delegations to OK over the past 10-15 years or so. each one studying something different.

i live in the CHEROKEE nation....hence..news regarding anything studying the different tribes...makes news in the papers, TV and radio.
it seems that we have delegations from china over here all the time in some shape or form.
here is a link to some high school students sent over here...

http://www.reznetnews.org/culture/040505_chinese

my G-Grandmother was interviewed by one group about 10 years ago(before she died at 96y/o). and had blood drawn for genetic testing they were doing trying to DNA type various members of the tribe to see what possible chinese province linkage could be proved too.
they spoke very good english..and were nothing like what we had expected, we entertained them at various events..a POWWOW and BBQ..

for some reason, scholars in China have a facination with the Cherokees..but not the Choctaws..or other similar tribes. at least that i know of...and i keep up on the Choctaw and Creek news as well.
(i'm Cherokee and Choctaw)

when i say languages and writings..everything i have seen or read about it..was the ancient stuff and it was always geared provincially...to somewhere in China.

the South Pacific "dwarfs" would have been related somehow, someway to the mainland asians..as well.

FWIW...
the Chinese...dont party down like the IRISH VISITORS...we've had...
lord..those irishmen and gals..like a powwow...and a honky tonk...

I worked with a half Cherokee guy many years ago in the Merchant Navy, he was always saying that the Cherokee were 'different' to other native americans, but he never elaborated.

What about the Pigmy's (The bush people) in Africa? They are about the size of a tootsie roll. They still exist right?
