The Holsters for Heroes™ program provides patriotic Americans a way to actively and effectively support individual members of the armed forces deploying to the Middle East.

Many service members strongly prefer a quality leather shoulder system to the synthetic flap holsters issued by the military. We at Galco, along with some of our loyal customers, have taken note of the high demand for our shoulder holster systems among the courageous American military personnel who are fighting the ongoing War on Terrorism. The vast majority of Galco holsters sent to personnel in Iraq and Afghanistan have been purchased with the private funds of service members and their families. Galco elected to help support these fine men and women by instituting the Holsters for Heroes™ program.

Every Vertical Shoulder Holster System, in tan color for the M9 (Beretta 92FS), donated by our customers to the Holsters for Heroes™ program will be matched on a one-for-one basis by a holster donated by Galco. For every shoulder system donated by our customers, Galco will also donate one. Please note that donations to this program are not tax-deductible.

Galco will send these holsters to members of the armed services who are within 60 days of deployment to the Middle East. Unit commanders select recipients on the basis of rank, economic need, and military performance. Enlisted service members holding lower rank, and consequently of lesser pay grade, are given priority. Colonel Lonnie Barham (US Army), when told of the Holsters for Heroes™ program, commented, “We have hundreds of enlisted Soldiers here who will be carrying the M9 in theater – they are our SECFOR units who will perform combat MP tasks.”

Galco and our contacts in the military will make every effort to ensure that donations go to those enlisted service members who most need and deserve a high quality holster to carry in the course of their deployment. Donors may remain anonymous at their request, but otherwise Galco will provide the holster recipient with the name and mailing address of the donor, since the recipient may wish to correspond with the donor. Donors are reminded that deploying personnel are often extremely busy training and preparing for their overseas duties. It may take 60-90 days from the date of purchase for the recipient to accept the donation and begin correspondence.
